  • Group buy: Ninja 300/250 Handle bar risers

I am using a Ninja 300. I find it to be an excellent highway machine, and capable for city riding as well. However in city riding, I often feel that if that handle bar would be little closer to me, that would make the ride a lot comfortable.

There is something called 'Handle Bar riser'. It is simply two metal blocks with 3 holes each, one big hole for fork, and two small ones for bolts.

The handle is mainly bolted down using the two bolts only, so he/she can use the handle bar risers to bring the handle closer. One Ninja, 1" is the max you can use if you want to continue using the stock cables. For more height, you will need to change the clutch, accelerator and such cables.

The 1" riser costs about $50. Is it too much for a metal block? You bet! But I don't want to get into DIY to save a few bucks and risk making the whole setup unstable.

The shipping of these risers is high, about $20/$25. For any incremental order, the shipping is $6 more.

I found the following link the best, as it is from Amazon and shipped internationally.

Amazon.com: New Kawasaki Ninja 300 / 300 ABS 1" Inch Lowering Fork Kit and Handlebar Riser: Automotive

I am starting this thread to see whether anyone is willing to order this stuff with me. Before I place the order, I will need to see part money in my account, as I will have no use of unclaimed risers. Once we get the number of interested persons, I will notify you the total amount we will have to pay. I think it will be close to $60-$65, so about 4000Rs each for a pair of risers.

On the other hand, if someone wants to suggest any homegrown solution or if you have someone coming from US and willing to bring it here for Rs.500 more, it will be the best thing to do.

So, is there anyone who wishes to join? The last day of showing interest is 8th March. On 9th/10th, I will intimate the final costs, and on 11th March, we will put up the order.

I didn't get this part. Could you please explain? What do you mean by "lowering the bike"? The main purpose of this modification is to raise the handle bars, so that one does not have bend that much. Right?

Re: Group buy: Ninja 300/250 Handle bar risers

I intend to use these as handlebar riser only, that in bring the handlebars closer to me by 1". If someone wants to lower the front end, and keep the stock riding position, that too can be accomplished by this. If one loosens up the triple clamp and pushes the forks inside these risers, he will have lowered the bike.

Else, if we just put these on and bolt the existing handle bars on top, then they will come closer to the rider without affecting anything else.

I see that part can be a bit confusing, and it can be ignored safely. Hence I have edited it out. Interested persons can search for more info online. In short, for people looking for bringing the handlebar closer to the rider to reduce the bend of riding position, this is a perfect solution.

I found the manufacturer's site has an even better rate. The part rate is $46, and shipping is flat $20, irrespective of number of pieces. If I can get some people interested, there will be good reduction in shipping.

On the other hand, can this be manufactured locally? What shop do I need to approach for this?

Hi Guys, this is my first post, though I have been following XBHP for sometime now!

I have just bought a Ninja 300 about 15 days back and got down to the task of getting Handlebar risers manufactured here in Mumbai!

Well, through a mechanic I have known for years, got this guy in South Mumbai, and he is helping me with the handle risers - I just got the metal in hand today and now am going to get some grinding and painting done on them - it is a trial version - but a finality on my bike at least!

            The results are as attached..

So, if you do notice, I have modified the aluminium billets, so that it will support the lower fork arm as well as the clip-on handle bars above! This will be sturdier, and much more hardier than the foreign design ones! The process takes long, as there is dual side work due to the dual "safety" feature!

I am open to any comments, so that I can fine tune the handlebar risers!

It is a maiden effort for me - so am hoping it works out well for me! I have got two pairs made, so as to try out permutation o computations on then.

I would of course be more than willing to help out other XBHP members as well. I am a call or a message away!

I will post completed results once done!

And just a pointer on the cost - still working out on that on the finished product - as possibility of powder coating and anodized versions are possible, but I am sticking to a paint job!!

            Wishing myself luck!

            Ride safe!

Enthusiasm is a weirdo – and I am one of those who are impulsive as hell, other than when driving – mostly!!
As I had mentioned, I would finish the work, and so it was yesterday – finite / complete!!

The two pieces were selected, and upon opening the handlebars by my mechanic, we test fitted the two aluminium billets – fitted snugly and perfectly! We did the outline markings, as the billets were made larger than required so as to adjust as we moved along!

                          Cheers and ride safe!!

Hi Worrisome..... Okay, let me give you a quick update on pricing, though not being direct-

$ 50 to 60 - basic pricing in the USA

$ 25 to 30 - shipping to India (non Priority shipping, ie, no Tracking)

Approx 29% Customs, which my friend got rammed with in Kolkata, and it includes both cost of material + shipping.....

It adds to a cool $100+, and that's the cheaper option.....

I have managed to get it done, that too it was a one-off piece as a test bed and trial piece, at just less than half the cost, as quoted above even in conversion, all fitted and ready to drive out!!! Let me assume that the $ stands at Rs 60/-, which it is not, and neither have I accounted for PayPal fees in this costing..... "Animeher" has the exact amount I paid, told him when we spoke!!

So its still half when fabricated in Mumbai, than importing.

You all can make a logical guess now, the cat's well out of the bag :-)

                            Cheers and ride safe.

PS - I feel, if we have a few number for both the N 250 / 300 - the pricing can be brought down, by sheer quantities ordered. The N 250 / N 300 have the same handle bar and bracket system!!

                            Feel free to call me....
