Personal experience with MT Revenge Binomy Matt Helmet (Black & Grey)

    Price - Rs.7475

    Rating:

    Comfort - 4 star
    wind noise - 3.5 star
    visibility radius - 4 star
    night vision - 4.5 star
    rainy times - 4 star
    safety - 4.5 star

I have bought the MT Revenge Binomy Matt Helmet 15 days back. I have used it for almost 600 kms. Climates were sunny, rainy and both on day and night.

When I put this on for the very first time before riding, it was super tight and made be sweat and tougher to breath. once I started riding it felt better. I ordered it in spartan and selected the size based on their measurement. but it was super tight, so i thought of going for an exchange to the next size. After using for couple of day it became super fit and comfortable. all those cushions got shrunk to the size of my head.

I was using a normal helmet before buying this. So the wind noise is very very less compared to that. but then the wind poaches somewhere the visor get closed. I guess some misalignment in the mouth of the helmet. Initially it felt like a disturbance but later its not. the pin type strap was difficult too initially.

Important thing is I felt very safe and comfortable with the helmet. upto 70kmph there is no wind noise at all it is very very less at 100kmph or more.

One thing which i liked about it is the night vision. light from opposite vehicles is not a disturbance or irritating anymore. It is crystal clear.

Ventilation holes do their job perfectly. there is one in the jaw position, 2 in the front at the top and one in the back.

I would definitely recommend this one. Its a VFM product for sure.

I bought it on online at Spartan Pro gears. got it delivered in 2 days.

Feel free to ask any queries related to this.

Re: MT Revenge Binomy Matt Helmet (Black & Grey)

Just in time you put this review when i was about to share my experiences on the Helmets thread.

I thought i would share here otherwise. Hope not considering this as a thread hijack.

I used this helmet (same colour scheme) for 1800 km and with little rough handling of the product. Bought this helmet from AH helmets, Jogeshwari (not going there again).

Comfort - Real snug fit. Tight during the initial period. Gave me neck/headache on very rough road. Now its ok. Quality of the internal liners is good. I wear spectacles and the temple bridge distance of the spectacles are above normal and they fit in easy.

Wind noise - As indicated in your post low noise till 70~80 kmph and afterwards it starts making noise. If i have to express in a little technical way the noise produced from the vents atop of helmet do not fall in the irritating frequency range for me. If all the vents are closed on cold days its good for beat boxing practice even.

As for the visor noise I faced it in my recent ride and a quick re-open close used to solve the issue. can be attributed to the rubber seal where visor sits in closed condition.

Visibility radius - Decent. Little problematic depending on the rear view mirror field of view

Fog - Stand still and get fogged, for the visor. For my spects its wear the helmet and get fogged. Once the speed hits 40 kmph + it clears away. i recently did a night rain ghat ride and firstly BIG NO for doing that kind of ride. Helmet did not do good with heavy rain. Opened up visor and rode. Cannot blame the helmet.

I suggest that if investing in this kind of helmet then go for the pinlock insert the next months saving up. (MT V12 size insert is suitable for this). I am waiting as there is no stock of clear insert last time I checked with SPG online.

          Quality issues faced -

Pinlock polymer screw generated a stress in the hole its put in on the visor and its started showing cracks at the screw area. I am sure that even with my bad handling that portion of the helmet has not got hit.

I find that the EPS (polystyrene) foam has started to make squeak noises at the rear portion of the helmet. This does not sound good. I have to report to SPG and get confirmation if its an issue. But as per my education an added gap between EPS and shell will affect the impact.

            ANSWERS IN BOLD

I thought i would share here otherwise. Hope not considering this as a thread hijack- NO NOT AT ALL

If i have to express in a little technical way the noise produced from the vents atop of helmet do not fall in the irritating frequency range for me. If all the vents are closed on cold days its good for beat boxing practice even. FOR ME ITS ACTUALLY NO WIND NOISE TILL 70KMPH. AND FOR ME THERE ARE NO WIND NOISE COMING FROM THE VENTS.

As for the visor noise I faced it in my recent ride and a quick re-open close used to solve the issue. can be attributed to the rubber seal where visor sits in closed condition. THIS IS THE PLACE I WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT. BECAUSE THE NOISE i HAVE MENTIONED, I TRIED TO CLOSED IT WITH MY INDEX FINGER WHERE THE WIND INTRUDES, THEN THERE WAS NO NOISE.

Visibility radius - Decent. Little problematic depending on the rear view mirror field of view

According to SPG website this helmet is compatible with PinLock.
At the same time they have recommended a user who commented on that page about fog issues to buy a PinLock insert from their website.
So, is it really compatible or not?

                  1. Yes its compatible with pin lock visor ( just read the visor for insert size)
                  2. I have bought and installed a pin lock visor on the Binomy Revenge from SPG. Works like a charm !
                  3. SPG was very good in replying to my concern of cracked visor and offered replacement just over email

So, I shot them a question in their website. Posting the question and answer below.

Question: Hi SPG, The description says it's not PinLock compatible. But you have asked a reviewer to buy V12 PinLocks to avoid fog issues. So is this helmet PinLock compatible or not?
Answer: Hello Mr. Vishnu, since Revenge has been upgraded from V06 visors to V12 visors, the pinlock insert doesn't fit perfectly. It will rub against the beeding and hence we do not recommend it.
We hope this answers your question.

Attached pics of my helmet visor (MT V12) and pin lock insert. I think you have an older model of the helmet (V6 visor) that has been discontinued.

The model in review is 2017 purchase

                        Hello
I too have just received this helmet
                        Size S 55-56
                        My head size is 55

Still it is very very tighttt
Cushioning constantly itches making irritating while driving
And inside of helmet at the back of the head
Looks like there are two pieces of wood at angle with each other
They constantly rub against back of the head creating pain and sometimes headache

Will it be going to normal after some time
Or should I prefer size up ?

                        Plz reply asap.

Re: MT Revenge Binomy Matt Helmet (Black & Grey)

I was shortlisting Helmets for me and Selected MT Revenge as my first priority over Thunder3 SV.
Thank You so much for the detailed review.
Even I was confused as SPG has mentioned * Note: This helmet is not PinLock compatible.

But you have clearly showed your V12 visor with Pinlock system.
Query - It does not equip stock Sun visor. Is this a deal breaker thing? (Though I use Fastrack sunglasses always on my SB Adonis but they too get fogged during winter rides here in north india )

                          - Thunder3 SV series comes with much better color option, Stock Sunvisor, D Ring lock strap,sharp- 4 star, 1.2k less price for which I can buy a pinlock. Is this worth comparing with Revenge Helmet? Revenge is looking exotic on Webpage but looking plane and simple in your review pictures. (I want black and minimal red strips only like T3) Ray.

                          - Your comparison with same class SOL and SMK helmets please.
Edit - Highway rides during Winter season cause Gloves, jacket, shoes etc wet in no time because of Extreme fog (Zero visibility). Leave the inner side of visor, Full helmet gets wet (not mist) which can not be cleared with WET gloves which results in massive drop in closed visor visibility. Opening the visor is not solution as it cause balaclava , eyelash and eyebrows wet. . Any proper solution you know?
Hope you can see condensed droplets. Visor was completely wet.
