I have used the Vnetphone V6 and V8 and was looking to upgrade. So I made a list of devices in different price ranges to consider.
Vnetphone V6:
Available for 2.5k on AliExpress and Gearbest.
With AliExpress standard shipping or Priority line on Gearbest should reach you in 7-12 days.
Pros:
-Cheap and somewhat reliable.
-Auto answer calls.
-Google/ Siri assist button
-Good battery life. Easily lasts 10-12 hrs on Intercom mode. Lasts upto 7-10 days while listening to music for about 2hrs daily via Bluetooth.
- Decent volume. On full volume with the helmet visor shut, the outside noise is almost inaudible upto 100kmph. Beyond 100-120kmph you can hear the muffled wind noise. Tested on MT Mugello and Agv K3 SV.
-Connects to both the phone and another Intercom simultaneously and automatically switches when you get a call and can connect back to the other Intercom with the press of a button.
Cons:
-Below Averge audio quality. Good enough for voice on Intercom mode but if you have heard music on good headphones you'll find this lacking. You can maybe ignore this considering the price.
- While listening to music you'll notice audio loss at random. First thought it was my unit but confirmed that with other units. Really annoying.
-Maybe too many buttons but you get used to it.
-Only two way connection for Intercom mode. Can switch between multiple
connections (upto 5) with a button but that's a big hassle to setup and maintain the connections.
- Build quality is just about ok.
- Tried in heavy rains and all the functions and lights went haywire. But got back home and give it a blowdry and everything worked fine for a bit and now it refuses to shutdown.
Under ₹5k
Vnetphone V8:
- The build quality is much better than the V6.
- It can connect upto 4 other V8's in conference and upto 2 other V6 in conference.
- Battery life of the V8 is bad in comparison to the V6 when connected to more than two devices. Lasts 6-8hrs.
-Audio quality is slightly better but audio loss issue at random is still there.
-Get a handlebar mounted remote control in the box. Some may find this handy.
Here are some other options worth considering :
-ASG SG5
Available for ₹8.5K locally (Rebranded version of Fodsport Fx8 available for ~₹4.5k on AliExpress.)
Conference with upto 8 riders at once. Can connect with Sena, Vnetphone V6/V8.
-Sena SMH5
Waste of money in my opinion. Much better options available in the same price range. Good for solo rides. That jog dial is very easy to use. Premium build quality. Can get it anywhere between ₹7-10k depending on where you buy it from.
-Sena 10S
Available for ₹12k on fc-moto with shipping to India. May incur additional custom duty.
4way Intercom. One feature I like about Sena is that you can be connected with another Sena in Intercom mode and share your music with the other device and talk simultaneously. Also pairs to other intercoms like the Vnetphone V6/V8, ASG SG5, etc. in Universal pairing mode.
-Cardo Freecom 4+
Available for ₹14k on fc-moto with shipping to India. May incur additional custom duty. Comes with Jbl speakers. Connects upto 4 riders in conference and has voice activated controls and some other jazz. Can also share music to other Cardo devices and talk simultaneously. Also has universal pairing mode. Seems like an updated alternative to the Sena 10s.
- Sena 30k
Available for ₹18k-19K on fc-moto with shipping to India. May incur additional custom duty. Feature loaded, top of the line Sena. Good for groups greater than 4. Worth buying if other riders in the group have the same device to take advantage of the mesh network.
