    Metzeler Sportec M5 tyres aren't exactly soft compound tyres, they are med-soft. But it's true that they have less of a life w.r.t. others, but again, it comes with a level of performance like no other. If you believe in the saying, "Compromise on one aspect is biased on the need for the other", then it is pretty justified .
    If one needs a set of tyres just to commute and tour, Metzeler Roadtec is a good option, and then there's the Pirelli AngelST (pure awesomeness ).


    It's not actually recommended to up/down size the stock profile of the tyres on the respective bikes. There can be minor to major cons rather than pros allow if one does that ignoring the cons completely. Normal mileage drop, raised or lowered height, mass centralisation is disturbed, misalignment, top end or acceleration issues (minor to major), etc...
    Pros could be top-end/acceleration improvement, better grip during touring/cornering (depending on the structural profile of the tyre), comfort, etc..

      Got my Green in August this year but couldnt get a chance to pen down few words on it..

      Initial review -

      Sitting posture is best for touring.. i would say on the same lines of the GT ... The foot pegs are little behind so was feeling uneasy as i am not used to it after the R15. The Pillion seat as per D, is much better than the GT.. she felt it was lower and more comfortable so pillion touring will be good

      Riding in city was neat... the bike handled really well through the traffic.. the bike being heavier than the GT250, i thought it will be a struggle but no.. it was smooth and easy riding... using a naked one for the last 2 years felt funny have to turn the handle and notice teh fairing was not moving but am sure i will get used to that....

      I was advised to keep it under 4000 rpm for the first 400KM...5000-6000 rpm till 1000KM that was the pain part as i had to keep an eye on the throttle everytime i change the gear...The gear shift i felt was hard... may be because i am not used to it but i found it difficult changing the gears.. hoping to get used to that in the next couple of days....

      The best part of the bike was the exhaust sound when the bike starts... that was sweet and smooth but later gets boring .. after hearing the Comy's exhaust, this was too smooth...

      Braking was excellent... i am yet to get used to the twin in the front but so far it was really good.. The pick up was again awesome.. but this is from a person who was not riding for months so may betheinitial excitement

      Over all, city riding was a good experience, no hiccups as such except for teh gear change...

      Pro's

      Bike feels better with much reduced vibrations
      gear shift smooth but not great
      got a glimpse of the work as as many of you know since the 650 is giving importance, it shows

      Con's

      would only complain about the gear shift which still is kinda hard but better than what it was.

      currently, the odo stands at 3000 and the only thing i noticed was high vibrating sounds at 4k rpm.. after some inspections, it was the spedo console which was the culprit.. will be replacing this under warranty in 2 weeks.... apart form this... touched a top of 205 and am sure it could have done more but need to ride safe :P

      i will take back my words in the initial review as the braking was not great at corners or at high speed braking... so that will be the first victim to be changed during second service

      the gears are still stiff below 5k rpm but if you open it to 6k and change, it butter smooth..not sure if it is teh same with ever Ninja... any inputs

            Hi guys,

            Hoping to pick up a Ninja 650R soon if all goes well (fingers crossed!), and have started researching what additions I want to make on it. Here's my list -

            Frame, fork & Swingarm sliders
            Radiator guard
            Motowerk Footpeg lowering kit (have a bad back and need a little extra space for the legs)
            Touring windscreen (still debating this one)
            Lamps for the headlights
            Shorty Levers (still wondering if Pazzo's are worth it or if there are cheaper good quality alternatives out there)
            SW Motech Engage Tank bag (love the look of this bag, but the cost is a lil steep :S)

            What do you think? Whats on yours?
