The greater the bike accelarates in the city, the more you will need ABS because you never know which idiot can jump in your way. I used KTM Duke 200 before and it would skid on many occasions. So, I recently bought a Triumph Street Twin whose brakes(including ABS) just serve the purpose completely.

abs can be fitted but ECU and wiring has to be changed completely as per mechanic

I have a Ninja 650r 2014 model. Recently changed my tyres. Michelin Pilot street Radials 150/60 R17 rear and 110/70 R17 front. It is around 1000 km since I changed and wanted to share my experience.

Background
Previous tires were Diablo Corsa 2 160/60 R17 Rear and 120/70 R17 front (Stock Specification). .

My experience with Diablo Corsa 2 tires.

1. After around 8000 km there was significant wear around the contact patch area. Almost the center part was flat (Not circular)
2. Many punctures happened.
3. Bouncy nature with the bike and even high way riding was not giving settled feeling. Tried different rear pre-load settings too. Didn't help.
4. During mild cornering also was giving a kind of wobbly feeling.
5. Long rides were never enjoyable.

At last it was time I decided to change the tires.

Wanted to try Michelin Street Radials. But it was not available for Ninja Spec (160/60 R17 Rear and 120/70 R17 front)
So wanted to try smaller size which is easily available in India (150/60 R17 rear and 110/70 R17). This is the same spec as of Duke 390.
Verified the load rating of these tires and felt OK. (I love long distance touring and am not a rash rider and drive at sane speeds).
After switching to Michelin street radials, the experience is very good. The Ride became more enjoyable. The bouncy nature of the bike is gone. Cornering is good.
Didn't find any issues so far with Braking. No punctures so far (touch wood). Sharp handling. Easy to maneuver in city.
Cost of both front and back tires was around 11000 Rs.
Seems to be appropriate for Indian roads and more resistant to Puncture.
Ground clearance got reduced a bit.

Just wanted to share my experience so that people thinking in similar lines can be benefited.

Salam everyone ,I am getting a deal in pre owned ninja here for around 200k 5500 odo .
but problem is ,abs is absent which is a problem and priority for me ?
please suggest what can I do or can I fit an ABS unit into this ??

I bought my 2016 Ninja 650 last year in December.
Bike doesn't have ABS.

I never felt need of ABS for a bike like this.
The old spec models are pretty good handling the bike without ABS.
Trick is to learn engine braking and 30front/70rear braking technique.

Even in panic braking in bumper to bumper traffic under normal road conditions the bike doesn't skid at all.

But if there's gravel and you happened to front brake at slow speed, then you're gonna suffer. [emoji28]

My experience:
I was about to turn at around 12-15 kmph, there was gravel on the road and unfortunately for some reason (anything can come in your way if you're in India) I applied brakes too hard and front got skid. My Puig protectors took the damage and saved side panels but handle bars also got the impact and die to that my fork stem got bent.

So this CAN happen!! [emoji51]

Hi guys. There's a 2016 Ninja 650 which has clocked 5k kms for sale. I am yet to see the bike but I believe it doesn't have ABS. I think ABS can be retrofitted by getting Modulator, Sensors, Brakeline, Wiring and ECU (which costs around 50k in few European sites) but I don't know who or where to get this fixed.
Please let me know what price you'll pay for a 5k Odo 2016 N650 (non ABS) in 2020?!

Hi guys. There's a 2016 Ninja 650 which has clocked 5k kms for sale. I am yet to see the bike but I believe it doesn't have ABS. I think ABS can be retrofitted by getting Modulator, Sensors, Brakeline, Wiring and ECU (which costs around 50k in few European sites) but I don't know who or where to get this fixed.
Please let me know what price you'll pay for a 5k Odo 2016 N650 (non ABS) in 2020?!

A almost 4 year old bike with less than 5k kms seems a bit fishy. If possible to get the service history of the bike checked with any Kawasaki service centres first before even considering it. Now that said the Old variant decently run bike go for anywhere around 3-4L and based on how shroud negotiator you are you can bring it to the bottom end of the price range mentioned.

My cousin knows the owner well. He was a car guy who picked the N650 just before the Kawa-Bajaj service split happened and also he's not using the bike after getting married is what I heard. I'm going to look at the bike this weekend. Let me try negotiating the price..[emoji3526]

I wanted to own this bike pre-owned or maybe a new one... Wanted to know few things like mileage/basic maintenance and everything related before getting myself one.

Saw the bike and took it for a small run (maxed 80kmph only). Loved it.
And the bike was blanked when trying to start the next time and the display came up after few seconds with a reseted clock (Looks battery dying symptoms)
The bike had new tyres changed only 1k ago because he didn't like the stock Dunlops he said.
But he wants 4.5L and I said I'm not ready to pay more than 4L and came back home. [emoji52]

That's absolutely battery on death bed or a weak battery. 3.75 is a good price. Give it a year and it'll be even cheaper. [MENTION=32286]psr[/MENTION] sir, is the best person to answer this.

I'm seriously mad at Kawasaki for taking away the bikes I loved right when i was half way saving for those.
Happened with the 250 and the pre-2017 650. [emoji30]
Now they are taking away the Ninja 1000s beautiful (looking) stock exhausts as well (though I love it, I feel the N1000 is too much for my usage, so I'll keep looking at Pre-owned 650 for a while)

Now they are taking away the Ninja 1000s beautiful (looking) stock exhausts as well (though I love it, I feel the N1000 is too much for my usage, so I'll keep looking at Pre-owned 650 for a while)

After Shv and psr sir did their magic, maintenance of N650 has become peanuts, barring the costly fibers and parts. The cost to value proposition is what makes the N650 an excellent contender. At least until it's not dropped or crashed.

I'd strongly suggest you to look keep looking for one and eventually you'll lock in on something.

Well, he is asking too much and considering the Kawasaki parts(from svc) usually cost an arm and a leg it is better to factor the cost of a new battery too in the buying price.
I'd stick with what Vijay says, 3.75 seems a good deal.

Ninja in Tamilnadu shouldn't cost that high. Like the other members have said a price tag of 3.5 L is what is Acceptable... Except for people looking specifically for it, other bikers stay away from it due to low FE in city and the cost of maintenance esp., the fairings.
Please also look up for a good pre-owned Yamaha R3 or Ninja 300 ...unless the N650 top end is what you are looking for. Both the 300cc class bikes can do 170 while a N650 can do about 220~240 kmph. We do not have safety even on highways for speeds exceeding 100 kmph , that too depending on your reflexes and Luck. So in my humble opinion a Yam R3 and secondly a N300 makes more sense since it will be cheaper and does most of what a serious biker wants , and is also Pocket friendly...Both bikes can cruise at 140~150 kmph all day..
