A 19 year old cd100 deluxe! Am 20 now and the bike came to us when i was 1! Ma mom, dad and me would go triples on it.. Still remember. We were the first then to have a geared motorbike in our road. Obviously times have changed and now i feel awkward to take it out.. But still its damn valuable to me.. Dad wanted to sell it but am against it.. Till date the engine did not have any serious issues.. Just normal sevicing. Never has the engine ceased.. But the only problem is this bike cannot be called a vintage.. Cause that segment is dominated by yams, RDs, etc.. But still the bike rocks.. Smooth and simple....ZMR- PGMFI re-defined

But I still take it out for leisure rides. It cannot be called a vintage as for now, but wait a 5 more years and it will surely be. And the engine and gear box, I'm in love with it....
Riding is not about destinations, it's about journeys.

no matter how much you rape the bike's gears the bike is still as good as new!! For about a year i used to change the gears without clutch.. Usually. Not always. But i never noticed any degrade in the gear-box condition thanks to honda..Originally posted by Arun Magus View PostSame here.

And even now I can say I love the gear shifts of CD100SS more than my latest acquisition (P200NS).

Clutchless shifting does not affect the wear and tear of the gearbox IF done correctly.Originally posted by abhi7013 View Postno matter how much you rape the bike's gears the bike is still as good as new!! Hero CD 100SS SPARE PARTS SOURCING
I am going to buy a 2000 Hero CD100SS. I'm getting it cheap at 12k. Though it needs a few replacement like rims, speedometer, drum brakes. I live in mumbai. Will Kurla market be good place to source it. If yes then I would appreciate if you could give me some good shop names and contact number. If no, then please guide me, I'm a complete noob. This is my first 2nd hand purchase. I'm little nervous to buy, but I fell in love with that 2 stroke beauty. Also any other guidance regarding this is welcome.
P.S. I enquirer regarding green tax. Yes I'm ready to pay 2000 green tax to own this beauty.

Where do you get the spare parts from? I'm looking to buy a '00 model, it's rims, brakes and clutch plates need to be replaced. I live in thane, a town near mumbai. Any help would be great.
P.S. I contacted their parts distributor in Bhiwandi, they said they don't keep the spare of old models.

You fell in love with a 2-stroke beauty and decided to buy the CD100SS? Or do you think that the CD 100 is a 2-stroke? If yes, then this is going to be a long journey for you

Wow, I'm a noob. Hehehe.. Thanks for pointing that out. I test rode it, it's engine felt too raw and powerful to be a 4 stroke.. So i thought it was a 2 stroke.. Damn I'm embarrassed lol..Originally posted by The Monk View PostYou fell in love with a 2-stroke beauty and decided to buy the CD100SS? Or do you think that the CD 100 is a 2-stroke? Re: Hero Honda CD100SS
Reviving a very old thread, it seems.
The lockdown over COVID-19 made me visit the small cabin outside the house where my first ride 'dust' in peace. The red Hero Honda CD 100SS (since 1998) is simply sitting there acquiring dust over last 6+ months.
Please let me rewind to 2015 and share some background before I say the trivial thing of today. Although the bike belongs to my dad, I was using it regularly for some 3 years as my daily commute to work. I learned riding on this bike and I had taken it to some mild off-roads as part of work. Riding was fun, mostly cruising at 30-40 kmph and some short full throttle runs. It seemed to be well made for bad roads and for my kind of rough usage. I was very happy with the bike until I got a chance to ride some other bikes, particularly the Honda Unicorn 150 and Shine. At that time I know nothing technical about motorcycles. These bikes seemed to be a lot superior, especially in power as my humble CD 100 had to scream in 1st gear to carry two people over the inclines in my route. As I tried to know about motorcycles, a wish to buy a new one started budding in my mind.
Forward to 2017, I arranged some money to buy a new bike. Dreamt of CBR 250R and Mahindra Mojo; considered Apache 200 4V, Pulsar 200 NS, Unicorn 150/160; went to Honda and Royal Enfield showrooms; and finally I bought myself a Honda Hornet. It was a good decision mentally and financially at that time (I got a good looking, powerful, practical yet sporty bike for my budget of 1 lakh). The Hornet slowly took over the place in all respects. I won't slide forward on my seat over small bumps, definitely better braking, better performance (the Hornet moves two people effortlessly in 2nd gear where the CD 100 uses its 1st, and with less noise) and more proportionate looks for a tall person like me. Since then, the CD 100 was used sparingly and that too for short spins for running errands.
Fast forward to 2020, the trivial thing of today. I took the bike out, dusted it and turn on the key. No lights, no horn, no neutral indicator. Fuel is there. Gave a few kicks but the bike is not starting. Primary Reason: Rat(s) bit all the wires, near the triple clamp (not a new thing for the bike). The front quarter of the bike is electrically isolated. I desperately wanted to start the motorcycle. As there is no spare wire with me I cannot join all of the wires. So after watching some videos on how to start motorcycle without a key, I opened the battery box only to find a rat nest inside the chamber. Some of the wires in the bundle are shredded. With one hour work, I joined all of them. Battery is showing only 5.2 volts. I joined the red and green wires to skip the key as instructed by YouTube guru. To my surprise and as I wished, the bike started in first kick. After a bit of sputter, the rumble became stable. Without the gentle input from throttle, the bike tends to die; starting again is not a problem (one kick is enough). Anyway, I feel very happy to get the bike alive.
Rust is getting into more areas. The plastic frame over air filter, brake light and one turn signal assembly are broken. Front tyre is flat. The wiring harness has to be worked out. Engine oil is up to the mark but black. It has to be repaired and repainted to renew the registration. Everything planned after the lockdown is over. Hope the bike keeps running for few more years. Finally, thanks for the patience to read this much.Last edited by unik; 03-28-2020, 09:31 PM.
