How different is the riding position from Fazer/FZ?
Which fuel are you using and which one is recommended as per the compression ratio?

Hey dude, i think if you keep up the praises, i may be tempted to give you a ride sooner rather than later.

1) Service Interval : first at 1000ks, 2nd at 6000ks and thereafter every 6000ks only(or every 6 months interval).
2) Oil grade recommended : 10W40, Oil change interval is 12000kms or 1 year.
3) Breakdown of service Costs : Paid Service with Labour(incl SR. Tax) - 1277.53
Rubbing Polishing (Incl SR Tax) - 168.54
Engine Oil (2 Litres) - 682.00
Oil Filter Assembly - 506.51
TOTAL - 2635.00
4) Honestly Oil Change can be done at home, But it would require to open the fairing up. One would need a paddock stand for doing the same as well as the lubricating the chain.
5) Free Service ???? - Champ, tried to negotiate for atleast one free service, especially since the Invoice from Probiking mentioned free service coupon, they claimed it was a typo. So all paid services only. Cost of servicing alone was 1277.53.

Hey Vectorz, Incase you are taking delivery and immediately riding in the rain, be careful with the tyres as they are a bit slippery. The tyre hugger finishes before it starts, so its really of no help. I spoke to the service manager about the problem and asked him if i could mount a Duke 200 tyre hugger or similar at the rear. He showed a duke 200 that had come for service, inspite of having the rear tyre hugger the entire rear was a mess. So dont know if that would help either.
R&G frame sliders are on my list. Planning on ordering that some time soon.

@Zimbly can you please provide some more information on your first servicing

1) Service interval
2) Which Oil grade is recommended and which was used in your bike including brand. How many liters required.
3) Breakdown of servicing costs.
4) Any service tasks that can be done at home?
5) How many free service coupons and whats the cost of only servicing after the coupons are exhausted.

Just answer these questions when free... Love the green barrel.

Thanks again Sachinnair!!! I know, even i was expecting a fatka, i guess the this would be the expected costs, unless its a major service. Oh yeah brakes are really good. After riding for 1000kms, i can vouch for the fact that the feel gets better. More on the add ons in a while.

Hey deVille, thanks man. Yup FZ16 to the N650. More than the lottery ticket was the task of convincing myself and family to shell out 5.5Lakhs on a two wheeler.

An excerpt of a coversation at a traffic signal with an Indicab.
Indicab : Aap bade fast chalake overtake kiya mujhe. kitney ki hai gaadi(you rode fast and overtook me, how much is it for?)
Me: saade paanch lakh ki.(5.5lakhs)
Indicab : Dhat teri ki, keemat meri gaadi jitna aur sirf do paye(tyres), isi liye itne tez jaati hai.(Damn, it costs the same as my car and has only 2 wheels, thats why its so fast)

Hmm good input as I will be riding back through the ghats and mostly rain, will keep a watchout. I thought the tyre hugger that comes should take care of this but i get what you are saying, it is too short... maybe a tail tiday will help. Also I have ordered the R&G no cut frame sliders and will have them installed before the ride back, are you planning on getting these?

Completed the first service of 1000kms earlier today. Overall experience was satisfactory. Dropped the bike at 11 AM, was told to pick up by 1600. I got in at 1630 and had to wait for another 40 mins before the bike was ready.
Managed to get a look at the inside of the bike as it was opened up to access the coolant. The service tech told me to keep an eye on the coolant level as the Ninja tends to consume a bit of coolant. I thought that this was wierd. Anyways will leave it for the experts to debate upon.
One other noteworthy point is the rear indicators had a bit of muck and water inside them(both left and right indicators). Both were opened and cleaned up and refitted. I wanted it to be changed under warranty, but then the parts are not in stock and i was assured that incase the problem reoccurs the indicators will be changed under warranty. Got the same in writing from the Service rep. New owners of the N650, this problem may occur when u ride in rain as all the water gets thrown on to the rear part of he bike.
Infact the lack of a proper mudguard really messes the rear half of the bike including the seat in the rains.
Other jobs done included the regular checks, oil and oil filter change. Coolant top up. Chain lube and tightening the tension of the chain.

Total expenses including labour and consumables was INR 2635 (including polishing).

Apart from the delay in delivering the bike i was satisfied with the service at Probiking.

Hey rx.100 Thanks man. She is really easy to use in stop go traffic. The side patterns are transparent tank protectors which i have put as an aftermarket addition. They prevent scratches to the paintwork. Infact before i put them the kneepads had already started making noticeable marks on the tank sides.


Done bprags, updates will follow. Adjusted the lowbeam headlight a bit as the beam was hitting way up the road to be of much use. On the whole the bike could have done with better set of lights.

Thanks karthic M. It would be insulting to say that it rides like a commuter bike on broken roads, but then thats what it actually does. A friend of mine(who rides a HD 48) sat pillion for a short ride and after a ride on a patch of broken tarmac his words were " Whoa this bike has suspensions"
