  • [Ownership Thread]: Yamaha Crux

I know guys nearly 95% of Xbhpian are not interested in this economic commuter bike but I cant stop myself from writting about this faithful machine.

My mother gifted this bike to me to go to high school & for household activities in 25th August 2004 & since then I am riding this bike.

I rode it over 40000 km both in highway & city traffic. It can pull heavy loads or three person comfortably if required.

I get a mileage around 70-80 kmpl & in speed I have ridden it till 90kmph.You can say that it is maintainance free.

Till now I have replaced the air cleaner components, cables, bulbs & Tyres. Even my curberator is sealed.

The only drawback is its looks & acceleration. As it is not a sports bike so cant expect high power.

Those who like classic look of the Yamaha RX100 or RX135 will like it. If you want a tough, troublefree economical bike it can be a good choice.

    Motorcycle Ownership Thread Approved
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

thanks for the info. maybe on spirited driving it gives the above mileage i was referring to ... actually i liked crux a lot. it was in my mind along with dazzler but ultimately my heart went for vespa
was confused if i should go for a pure reliable commuter or a smooth powerful bike like dazzler.
finally went for a scooter. worst is i am planning for long tours on my scoot now !

Usually I get the mileage when I ride 40-45kmph. I know choosing a ride is a big trouble. My mom & cousins choosed the Yamaha Crux for me as I was in high school that time but when I had to choose my ride for a grand tour http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/2...-part-1-a.html I was in a totally confused for three weeks. I would give random status updates on social networking site asking about bikes firstly my friends replied later the stopped. I would spend whole night reading reviews & ownership experience of bikes. I had to choose a powerfull bike below Rs 75000 to climb hilly roads smoothly with two people & luggage. Finally I choosed my Bajaj Pulsar 180.

Since its a 4 stroke most probably its having a fuel control screw. Check the position of the screw on carb. If its near to air filter probably a air screw.

Sorry bro, I have no idea whether its a air screw or fuel screw. I just know till date the carburetor is untouched ( never opened during servicing ) as fitted by the factory. Sometimes I adjust the screw with the help of small screwdriver to tune the RPM.

i think it is the fuel screw will check it though
actually it is my friend's bike whose tuning is all messed up so i planned to tune it my self. If possible can you tell me the stock setting

Yamaha Crux doesnt have a RPM meter but I try to keep the engine in 1000RPM in Summer and slightly higher in winter days.

Yamaha Crux has both Air and Fuel screws for adjusting and tuning. typically, it has an UCAL carburetor which is literally maintenance free.
I have driven my Crux above 20,000 km. and have opened/tuned the carburetor only once.
