Taking out a motorcycle from showroom - Delivery checklist

Hello Riders,

Thanks Admins for approving my account.

I am due to take Bajaj Avenger 180 Street delivery. I would like to check key check points when taking delivery of the new vehicle. Few points i have are,

1. Oil levels of the new vehicle
2. Dents / scratches overall body appearance
3. vital checks like working of different functions (light system, ignition, battery warrenty etc)
4. Accessories fittments

Few doubts :
1. Initial engine tuning checks
2. Indicator checks (fuel indicator specially)
3. Engine noise / performance

I am unsure how to checks the 3 doubts here.

Any assistance will be of great help.

1 and 3 can be cleared by riding another similar bike extensively and comparing the performance with it. I'd suggest to leave the engine tuning (guess you are referring to the carburetor tuning) as it is at least till the first service. Do not disturb it unless you have some real issue.

About 2, the showrooms usually give the bike with low fuel (less than 1 liter) and so the fuel indicator must be glowing when you get the bike and go off once you refuel. If you are concerned about any other indicator, do mention it.

Amazing thread, I am taking delivery of my DUKE 390 this week. This is very helpful.

Also I would like to add my small experience to this.

Make sure you see the bike physically which has been allotted to you prior it goes for the RTO registration.
I had an issue in the unit allotted to me by the system, it was an older model than the one I had made the booking for. Luckily I had visited the showroom & insisted them to allow me to check the vehicle physically before the registration formalities were completed.
My Delivery got delayed due to this, but I was saved from being assigned a old model while you pay for the latest one.

Hope this helps to all the new prospective buyers.
