  • [Ownership Thread]: Karizma 2014 (Twenty Fourteen) - The Charm Continues

Back in 2003, India got its own semi-Super-bike called Hero Honda KARIZMA. Speaking as a biker, it was a super-bike in those days.
We were stumped by the hunky look and the power it possessed.
Now in 2014, Hero Motocorp has come up with the refined model of the Karizma.

I can truly say, the charm has continued with the newer version.

Lets start with the Engine specification:

Type Air cooled, 4-Stroke Single Cylinder OHC
    Displacement 223 cc
    Max. Power 14.32 kW (19.2 BHP ) @ 7500 rpm
    Max. Torque 19.35 N-m @ 6000 rpm
    Max. Speed 126 kmph
    Fuel Metering CV Carburetor

Karizma has been designed specifically for the Indian market. The styling is inspired by Honda VFR800. The instrument panel and the tank recesses are also designed keeping their functionality in mind. The horn has come under criticism for not being loud enough.(But thats something which you can get changed - as your ears like it).

    .
However I have a rear spoiler added to prevent that.

All in all , the new Karizma has not disappointed me with the performance till date and definitely kept the charm of its predecessor.

When biking for me was Enigma,
    I saw you my Karizma
Even when the loud horns made me scream
    Having you was my dream.

Now that I have you, you are my pride,
And I promise - We will never have "one last ride".

Absolutely brilliant review mate. I'll be getting one soon. For 90K on road, nothing even comes close.

It undercuts the 200NS and AS by 10K, and its only 5K more than a gixxer/FZ. Brilliant pricing.

Tail section is so weird and those puny tiers just don't match man. The original one looks so much better. No offence bro!

And those are 120 section tires. I'm so happy Hero didn't give the same old crappy 100 section ones on these!

Original Karizma and the previous ZMR had puny tyres. The new Karizma siblings have arguably the best tail section among all Indian motorcycles, and the rear tyres are 120mm wide, they look much better.

Re: Karizma 2014 (Twenty Fourteen) - The Charm Continues

I recently rode the Karizma and they were test mules only, I noticed the gear box was very loose. Felt as if there is a big gap somewhere in between the linkages that cause trouble while shifting gears. A lot of false neutrals and difficulty in shifting gears as well.

Back in 2006-08 when I had the Karizma the gears were top notch precise. These two models I rode had a very bad gearbox. It could be that they were test bikes, so they might have been messed up, but keep in mind I was the first one to ride them. So a customer did not mess it up, it came messed up from the factory.

Just wanted to know is that the case with all the Karizmas or since they were test mules they were not given enough attention?

Keeping that in mind, I loved the gearbox of the Hunk and Igniter
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

May be the linkages are loose. Being test mules the bikes will be not paid attention and the linkages have gone loose.

My extreme linkages have worn out and same problem of gears having long throws and all.
