    -Posting from Auto-Expo R3 Thread

Just spoke with Sri Motors Yamaha Global Shop, Chennai. They say waiting period is 45 days. Bookings open. Full Price Breakdown Yamaha has not informed them yet, mostly by next week they'll receive it seems. New display vehicles will arrive shortly.*

    EDIT-2
A sales rep named Saravanan called from Sri Motors Katupakkam branch, Chennai. He told me the price is ₹3,88,700 on-road. Booking amount is ₹10,000. He also added to book quickly to avoid further queue delay.*

    EDIT-1
Spoke with Another Showroom called Sun Motors in Chennai. They say ₹50,000 is booking amount. Bikes will most likely arrive by March end or April first week. This person said the on-road price won't cross ₹3,95,00 in Chennai.*

Since old BS3 stock fully sold and R3 was discontinued from mid 2017, no display or test ride available for now in showrooms it seems.

    Cheers!

Seems like RTO Charges are quite low in Chennai , We in Goa have flat 20% for any bike over 3lakhs . As per my estimate should cross 4.20

Their sales team is so pathetic that the entire buying experience felt like they are doing me a favor and I am buying a scooter. Unfortunately they are the only ones in Pune who gets R3 directly. Their after sales service guys are way better than core sales. Hope this helps!
The blue colour fading was indeed an issue with some bikes from earlier batch. TBHP has some info on this.

The earlier R3 costs 3.7Lks in chennai. So the price 3.95 seems to be the reliable one for the newer ABS model.

Hello everyone! I booked the new R3 just a week back. It will be delivered in 45 days. On road cost in Bangalore is pretty high. 4.3 lakhs. Booked from Torcente motors, Frazer town. Any leads on on road price will be helpful for Bangalore.

            Hi,

I also checked with Torcent yesterday, they have also quoted me the same. Today i have checked with Vinayaka motors & Took a test ride of OLD R3 BS3, They quoted 4.38L on road. APart from that if you want to fit crash guard that will cost you 9K, they have showed me the sliders.

Riding my Benelli 250, from there taking test ride of R3 was awsome, 1st thing i notice was the refinement, just too good, and being 6'3 tall the bike posture was quite good for me.

Am planning to book it somewhere in April/May.

Are you sure regarding your numbers? 3.38 lacks for used R3 i guess.

First i went to Pratik motors was told firmly they dint have price breakup of the bike and team was also not sure when they will get such information , Sales rep didn't even bother to take my number i left and went to Yamaha website and found their is another dealer who is shown as R3 dealer for my area

Went to second showroom , found sloppy sales reps who were busy in their own work . Had to interrupt them to get their attention . When asked for R3 Quotation i was surprised i got it in seconds but i was immediately told its not in stock and will take 3 months i was shocked and asked if their is huge waiting they said company has fewer units , was told pay 10k as booking amount and wait for 3 months .

I left the showroom but after close inspection i found ex-showroom mentioned as 326280 i went back in immediately , when i told staff its ex-showroom launch price was told as 348000 , only then they released they had given me old price and when i pressured only then they decided to check with Yamaha which they couldn't go through after repeated attempts . they finally took my number and told i will get a call back from them soon .

I am not sure if this sales guy will be able to get me R3 in time frame , it seems they are busy selling non-gears got Honda dealership vibe from them .
Pratik Motors in Margao are so lazy that they dont even bother greeting their customers. I went there recently and found their staff busy doing their own stuff, and on asking about the R3, they just replied "Not sure about it".

Maybe you can check for some dealers in North Goa because South dealers are focused on selling FZs and Scooters.

Their is another Pratik Motors in Mapusa , i don't know if they will be any different . Quadros Motorides has only Non-Gear in showroom not even one Motorcycle in display .

Both Showroom have lack luster approach and i fear for after sales service for Expensive bike like R3

As I said in my previous post here in this thread, that I wanted to ride an R3 to feel all the hype. Finally got the opportunity and took a test drive on the old BS3 as the new one is not yet available. Really an awesome machine. The things I liked are the seating position is Perfect !!. Very light weight and nimble. Taking U turn is not a pain. It is a very practical machine mainly for City and highways as well. Can be used everyday in city unlike my Daytona675.

I could easily ride in traffic with pillion and the max speed I could take with a pillion was around 100kmph as the the road finally ended . But I could see the potential of this machine.

One think I can understand w.r.t. to power and torque is coming from a daytona 675, I felt it to be underpowered. Offcourseit will be and I can't compare a 120bhp bike with a 43bhp bike. But I will prefer R3 any day over Daytona 675 in city. A true practical machine.

I might sell my daytona for new R3 after few months for more practicality. I should thank Vinayak Yahama for providing me the test drive

                        Hi everyone!

I am planning to book the newly launched R3 by March. Have also been through this ownership thread. Would like to place a few queries and would appreciate if the owners can offer their opinions on the same. The list is as under:

                        1. I already have a R15 v1 since 2009. But of late, my back and wrists start paining while driving it through city traffic (am 32 years old with 5'5" height). How comfortable is R3 as compared to R15 "v1" in this respect? Shall be obliged if somebody can share a few pics from side profile (with rider on) so as to get an idea of seating position.

                        2. How is the pillion comfort as compared to R15 v1?

                        3. What is the real world mileage offered by the bike?

                        4. How is the service and A.S.S. from Yamaha in Delhi and Lucknow?

                        5. Is the bike easily navigable in city and ghat sections/hilly areas?

Please provide your inputs so that I can make a sound decision!

                        Regards...

P.S.: The bike is intended to be used 75% in city riding and 25% in highway and hills.

I Don't own a R3 , but i have taken long rides (120km) Both in City and Highway so i can give my opinion about it, but people with longer ownership will be guide you better .

Ans1) R3 has better ergonomics and can be used for long rides and is way better then R15 v2 and v1 when it comes to rider siting position and comfort.

Ans2) Pillion seat is small ,comfortable for short trips not for long trips unless you have a lady companion with small build size .

Ans3) Highway around 28-30kmpl if driven around 80-100 km and in city 21 kmpl or less depending on your traffic conditions .

Ans4) Not from Delhi or Lucknow can't comment on that but lot of R3 owners have told me that most of the ASC of Yamaha give same treatment to R3 as if it is R15 not much care is taken while servicing but cost is quite low and Since you are previous Yamaha owner you should know service experience way better

Ans5) It is One of the best city bikes and Ghats i encountered were not so steep but it still was easy to drive .

                            Taken from Cycle Ergo Website:

This how a person with similar height as yours will be on the motorcycle according to them. Please also note the hip angles too. Taking longish test rides will help you know well the motorcycle suits you.

                            R15v2 Little More Aggressive Lean

Naked Z650 very less forward lean

                            Other Faired Machines for example

Ninja 650 seems to have the least lean in faired sports tourers.

R3 kinda seems to be in the middle ground of Sporty and Comfort.

                            Cheers!

1.The riding position of R3 is less committed than R15 and is the perfect upgrade for R15 riders ,the only negative could be the weight specially in stop go traffic specially since you face pain in R15 .But at your age better get fit and go for the R3 since you are not going to get any younger - just friendly advice from a 44 year old rider :-)
2.Pillion is not comfortable for long distances as compared to R15 v1 but better than R15v2.
3.I have been getting around 26-27 on avg in mixed usage of city and highway.
5.As you get used to it ,it's a hoot to ride in ghat sections specially now that it comes with Metzelers .

I would say go for it after a test ride ,specially managing the weight for your height in heavy traffic but smaller riders manage heavier bikes so it's all in the mind .All the best and ride safe.
