      royal enfield standrad 350 uce

I want to buy royal enfield bike. So i visited RE showroom newly open in my city junagadh. at showroom, i saw different models and test drive. i selected std 350 as it is low cost. Also as advised by my uncle the kick of new uce bullets are as easy so self start not required. So i decided to buy std 350. nearly 1.5 month waiting period, i received my bike at 2 may 2016. i go take delivery of my bike with my uncle who owned a ci and diesel bullet. At delivery time, showroom sales person insist to change silencer, horn etc but my uncle strictly say no to silencer and horn change. he advised to put a leg guard to protect bike and legs in case of accidents and crome handle bar weight for minimised handle bar vibes. i did so. Then my uncle advised that bullet has 3 run in. in first, we should go up to 40 kmph and 3rd gear. the first runin is for 500 km. in second runin, we should go up to 50 kmph and 4th gear. second runin is upto 2000 km. and third runin, we should go up to 60 kmph and 5th gear. the 3rd runin is up to 5000 kmph. by this method, ur bullet engine breksin properely and becomes smooth. also my uncle advised me not to race the bullet. i followed his advise and friends, my bullet runs very smoothly. i have completed 6000 km so far and i have not a single prblm expect tik tik sound from rear wheel which is due to loose spoke because our junagadh roads are very rough. this prblm i have solved by wheel trueing at local shop just for250 rs. otherwise i have not any prblm which other guys find. i took extreme care of my bike. for chain i clean chain with kerosene at once a month and lubricate with motul chain spray. i usually polish my bike at every 20 days. i lubricate each joints and moving parts once a week. i have not changed exhaust and never go for change as it will surely affects ur bull engine. let me explain. after market exhaust creates low back pressure to produce thump. now each engine is tuned by considering various parameters among which one is back pressure. if back pressure is reduced, it creates after fier, detonation and popping on decelration. u get more vibes, tappet noise and engine overheating issues. i use 3 free service at re service center but not much satisfied. i also not satisfied with re liquid gun oil so after free service, i want to shift to motul 5100 semi synthatic. after compliting 5000 km runin, i took my bike to rajkot, 100 km distance frm my city as i have to shift because i get new job. i took my bullet and once i hit highway, i constltly ride at 80 kmph continuously. no vibes no issue. And finally, i love my bullet as it is a devine power for me. when i book my bull, the next day i went for gpsc interview and got 4th rank in gujarat state and got permenant goverment job. also bullet helped me to comeout my personal issue of a girl. when this girl come in my memory, i go for ride of bullet and i forgot her. the joury of me and my bullet still continue.

          Bullet 350 - Best carb tuning / up-jetting for Free-Flow Bend+Silencer

          Hello XBHPians!

First off, thanks to the XBHP Team for making me a member of this ever growing bike lovers community!

This is my first ever post on XBHP and I'm seeking some knowledge on actually what sort of carb tuning / up-jetting will good if I use a free-flow bend and silencer on my bullet 350.

Basically, I wish more power + good thump from my BS4 bullet, so I am going to replace the stock bend with a round (c-shaped) bend with no catcon filter or any other resistance of that sort. I have already installed a free-flow mini punjab (short bottle) silencer on my bike, but with the stock bend for now, so the sound is not that much good to the ears.

I plan to change the air filter as well with either k&n or bmc, so not whether the machine will run lean or rich on the proposed configuration. The stock carb is BS29.

          Please advice.

I look forward to hearing back from someone really expert in this.

          Thanks & regards

Re: Royal Enfield Standard Bullet 350 (UCE)

Has anyone converted from Drum to Disc ? I feel drum brakes are moderately good however feels like need to be tightened often to be on the edge.

I have been contemplating upgrading to discs. I spoke to service centre guys and they told me it will cost around 20k. We can purchase the kit from them BUT they will not install themselves nor will the recommend anyone.

I have also been reading around (most threads pertaining to this topic are at least 5 years old. While some say go for it, others say the disc brake isn't actually necessary for city riding. I am inclined to go for it because of a hand injury and squeezing the front brake to make the bike stop isn't really helping.

Will keep digging around until I get new info.

Sure, Thanks for the information. However during my inquiry , SC quoted the similar amount along with installation & also they said 3 weeks might be required to complete the work. FYI.,

SRS - Do you have experiences on Harley like or long handlebars. Some of the reviewers in tube watched so far advised to stick with stock to avoid getting pain in hands.

                Let me know your thoughts.

Which SC did you go to for the disc brake info?

I don't have experience on Harleys. I am using stock handle bars only.

Re: Royal Enfield Standard Bullet 350 (UCE)

It's been ages since I got on to this site and since I have today, I thought I might as well top up this thread with a 28000KM review of the Bullet. I'll keep it real short, though.

It's been close to four and a half years and through out this time, I have not only enjoyed riding this bike in the city but also on the highway. It's a great bike for a solo rider and nothing feels better than the Bullet. The service has been great and each time it comes back from servicing, it feels smooth and easy. Really great job by RE in this department.

My biggest grip with the bike is the brakes. It is lousy when it comes to riding with a pillion rider. Heck, I have broken the tail light thrice just rolling the bike backwards out of my parking spot because I couldn't stop the bike on time. It's been so frustrating that I have even thought of just selling it off and buying a regular bike but I just can't get myself to because it's just so damn smooth when riding solo. I was contemplating replacing the brakes with discs but I have seriously been advised not to do so by more than one person since RE doesn't officially support it.

So this is the story so far. I love the Bullet 350 to bits but at the cost of thinking twice before giving someone a ride. And this is just inside the city. I still haven't mustered the courage to take someone along with me on the highway.

And you hit the highways with this amount of braking power?

                          Hehehe... yeah!

I always keep it between 60-80kmph so I don't regret it later and I watch the road like a hawk. If it had better brakes I'd be able to take it easy and go faster.

Is the model with drum brakes still sold or stopped ? the closest dealer has not been able to give a concrete answer.

It is still available as per their website but it WILL eventually go out of production. Maybe in the next few months.

I booked my first bike that is standard 350(disc+abs). What advice would you give to a rookie about ”BULLET”?
