Frame sliders are meant to protect you from low sliding the bike. But something this heavy and tall is usually more often than not just dropped when negotiating rough edges. I would recommend fork sliders and a crash bar. There's too much fairing to protect.

Pollachi is great. Love that place. Will be riding there sometime soon. Maybe we can meet. I see you are active on the versys India group on wasapp.

I never considered crash bars till after i ordered the frame sliders to protect from drops..aren't they supposed to protect the engine and other vitals more than the fairing, cause i see them not extending outside the fairing like frame sliders do. Yeah there is too much fairing indeed. ..will have to keep crash bars in my bucket list when i can afford them

Sure, just let me know ahead of when you plan to ride to pollachi and we can meet up...what's your handle on the watsapp group?

17 to 18 in the city, 23 to 25 in the highways (keeping it below 130 kph)...top speed is 190kph. check out the new ninja 650 if you dont plan on pillion riding and can live with a lesser suspension. can save 1.5 lakh

Well then the versys is pretty much the only economical upgrade. Be sure to get the new 2017 model. You can get 30kpl, provided you keep the throttle steady at 70kph all the way. 26 to 27 is doable under 100 kph though

Recently Three of my friends bought a Versys ,each, last week and I saw the fitting of both sliders and the crash guards..They told me that it was from Germany and costed approximately 7K for the sliders and 16+ for the full crash guard....both were fitted by the owners themselves on different bikes and I must say the crash guard is really protective compared to the sliders. They had also fitted Aluminum hand guards for protection...
The bike has very linear power delivery and very comfy..but the weight and Saddle height are challenging ( I am only 61 Kgs and 5'9inches...).
                  Good Luck to all owners..
                  Ride Safe.

I'm not good at putting down my thoughts so please excuse. I'll be writing some random points

Got the Versys 650 on 15th April 2017 in KRT Green Color. I always follow run-in for a bike so not able to push her pass 4000 rpm for first 800 kms.
Completed 800 kms few days back and now I can push her till 6000 rpm, she feels completely different bike now.

She is big, really big...after riding her for 10 days when I went to showroom I find ninja 650 very small, even I confused it with ninja 300 for a second.
She is giving around 20 km/l in city maybe because its in run-in. Today I'll get the first service done.

Verrsys feels like I'm driving a suv, very different from duke 390 . There is slight buzz from fairing.

Now i cant wait so long; I think its time to lock on to the versys. However I have take the test ride in Bangalore by renting the bike. Only one thing that made me think is the seating it tends to slide towards the tank, due to Engine braking. Did you Experience anything as such. Apart from this the bike was perfect from every angle. My partner was feeling more comfi at the back.

Because of my wife read pillion comfort i bought Versys. Its a great touring machine.
I feel there is almost no engine braking as my other bike is first generation duke 390...to me its like bigger and powerful karizma 😊
