        Urgent help required
After taking the delivery of my bike at around 3 pm i received a call from the showroom regarding the extra tax which i'll have to pay. My bike was billed on 8th of July in full cash payment and insurance was done today from an outside agent at around 9 am. Today the budget of Rajasthan state was announced under which road tax has been raised from 8% to 13%, this 5% increment would result in ₹ 14k. I received a call from the dealer that maybe i'll have to pay the difference of 14k. They were not sure themselves and they said they would call me with the correct information. But my bike was billed 2 days ago so why should i be paying the difference in tax? Does anyone have any knowledge regarding this, it would be really helpful
        Peace

If the road tax was not paid on that very day and they have applied but it is still under process then the rto would charge the current rate and you have to pay the increased amount. Here in Delhi the process is online and it is mostly done on same day in my case it somehow happened two days later as the rto server was overloaded.
Here in your case you will have to pay the higher amount if the tax rate is changed with immediate effect and if it is already not paid on previous date. You can verify the same in your rto receipt.

But isn't paying the tax on the same day their responsibility? They took the money from me and then they waited for 2 days to pay the tax. They'll inform me by tomorrow, let's see what happens

Also depends on rto , it is on the rto office to register it on same day. And they have plenty of excuses not to do this. This is why our state have moved to online system to avoid such things.

Hi guys sorry forgot to post here since I was added to WhatsApp group.

                Crossing 3250kms now..

Last month there was a ride organised by Royal Enfield Chennai to a village near Yelagiri. It was ride with a cause to and we planted tress, distributed food and school bags too.

This Sunday did a ride to Pondy along with two other riders and enjoyed the coastal road after a long time.

Any alternate tyre patterns/manufacturers ? I was thinking of going a size down for the rear, from 130/70-18 to 120/80-18. Pirellies are good, but wanted more bite for the mud and dirt.

I had posted earlier, a reply stated that a difference from 130/70- 18 to 120/80-18 should not make a difference nor cause the abs to get into errors, however the rating of the said new tyre would limit the speed that I can attain.

                    Please confirm the same.

Well after enquiring further on other showrooms i came to know that the rto had closed the portal on the day of the budget announcement, so there was no mistake from the dealership. At the end of the day I had to pay 13,285 ₹ extra because my motorcycle falls under the category of luxury item now. I had saved around 12k ₹ by getting the insurance from a known person and because of that i got late with the rto registration.
                        Peace

                              Hi,

There seems to be three other options in India for now for the stock 130/70 R18 size. Ralco seems to be a good dualsport option.

I would suggest you to not downsize to 120/80 as it will decrease tyre width by more than 7% and will decrease high speed stability above 100kmph significantly.
