do keep us posted on the muck pattern once you ride in the wet without the fenders.
I will fit it back in monsoon season

          Re: Interceptor 650 Twin

          Guys - I'm really confused

I booked the bike on 19 November without even taking a test ride.
Always fancied a bullet but had no experience of the issues.
Didn't know and never bothered to know.

Come 2018 and all the excitement of a new engine and eagerly waiting like everyone else.

2 days back I had a test ride and following are my thoughts:
          1) Size: It's big. I'm 5'11" and still I feel its big to handle.
          2) Foot Pegs: These things are sharp and exactly next to my legs. They were poking and can cause injury in stop go traffic when handling in hurry
          3) Material quality : I felt everything was rough like wrought iron. The levers, chassis, exposed metal. Did not feel the material to be premium considering the price and competition
          4) Traffic handling : Well this was my first experience of a 200KG bike and I am 90KG my self. I encountered 5 traffic signals one after the another where the total TD Distance was 3 KM. Was a B2B ride and my forearms were sore.

All in all my experience of the bike was not even near being pleasant. The place I went to was new so was not aware of the traffic but it was a like a regular city traffic condition and time was around 2 PM so definitely not peak hours.

ON MY TD ROUTE I SAW TRIUMPH SHOWROOM
Going in there I feel has been the biggest mistake of my life - I fell in love with every bike in the showroom.

Discussed with the executive the purpose of my purchase and I took a test ride of street twin. Was interested in t100 but it was not available.
Also, as the new 2019 ST is expected Triumph is offering 0% finance on ST and EMI is around 13K for 5 years (AMAZING)

The test ride was a lot longer than the RE test ride and also on the same road with blocked up traffic and this bike was butter to handle.
This is an RE Topic so won't stretch much but all the issues I felt in RE were like never existed.
At similar weight the bike was manageable. Material quality, engine performance, exhaust note and what not.
Suddenly I was feeling that all the youtube videos and articles I saw about RE were are providing false information.

          +++++++++++++++++++
End of the dream - Now I need your true and honest opinion :
          1) How well do you think the build quality of RE is ? I felt they are cutting corners with the material
          2) Have you guys tried the TD in traffic conditions ? on a straight road, everything would feel amazing and fast. Lets talk about driving in city speed limits
          3) Did you feel the foot pegs are in the wrong position ? Or was it just me !
          4) Seat is soft and cushiony but I felt like sitting on a bench

          +++++
          Something about me :
I have a 2007 Pulsar 220 FI [Yeah FI - the bike's manufacture stopped in 2009] and this has been my only 2 wheeler
All my highway travels are on cars as I travel with my family
The purpose of purchase is for office commute and in-city travel where the total distance will not exceed 50KM. Any further and I would prefer going by car
          Definitely no highway

I was wanting to purchase the 350X but the handle vibrates like a hand blender.
I was wanting to have a classic style bike but things are going south.

          +++++
I would be taking another TD soon for the RE but if things don't work out, I don't have a plan B
Can you all suggest me a bike other than RE for office commute.
My office is roughly 20 KM one side and with a mix of traffic condition- relatively moving but there are few signals.

++++ Seems I've written my heart out

                2 questions

                1. How is the benefit of handle bar raiser now ? Does it make a good difference ?

                2. Why change the rear brake fluid reservoir ? Wouldn't this impact warranty ?

                  1. Yes it does make difference in riding long, when I took the test ride I complaint about the handlebar been little far to reach.

                  2. The stock rear fluid reservoir is cheap quality that's why I change it and warranty is not void. Look the pic , stock is made of plastic and the one change is Aluminium.Click image for larger version

I have relatively less experience with RE Bikes. But the interceptor does have a good build quality compared to the rest of the bikes in RE's stable.
Looking at the issues that you posted with the test ride bike I would suggest you to not compare Triumph with RE.
The price difference in the most expensive RE and the cheapest Triumph says it all.
Triumph Bikes are expensive for a reason and RE is going to be at least Cheaper to maintain.

Parts of Triumph can be expensive and so would the service cost.
Being a family man, you would also need to justify a big 5 year loan for a bike.
Remember, aam aadmi still thinks that bikes cost less than 70k.

                        My suggestion,
Go for Java(retro look) or any other Japanese make bike if you are in for good build quality and so on.
If RE was your dream, then just go for it. If you stop chasing your dreams then what is this life for?
Never give up on your dreams and live a life of regret.

                          Re: Interceptor 650 Twin

Yesterday evening, I visited Royal Enfield Brand Store, Adayar, Chennai and had a second test-ride of Interceptor 650. Here are the details of my first test-ride. I was the third in the queue. I was told that I could ride as much as I liked. Nobody from the store accompanied me. I rode for 8 km on the Besant Nagar beach road and around and returned to the store as more people were waiting for the test-ride. I got used to the semi-forward riding position and the foot peg position. I did not feel any heat during that 8 km-long ride. I could go upto 80 kmph in 3,500 rpm in the sixth gear and enjoyed the ride fully. After the test-ride, I gave a detailed feedback on their laptop. I have already decided to book one in Orange Crush in the new year.

The rear fender eliminator could have been thought about before removing it, though it looks great. People behind you are definitely gonna get sprayed by much and not to mention the pillion itself on your motorcycle can have a tough time in case of riding on wet scenarios. You can ruin IND your number plate finish over time by much getting muck sprayed all over, only makes cleaning a more pain in the derriere. Nevertheless, keep her 'a shiny.

Love the integrated license plate lights, lovely job there.
