  • [Ownership Thread]: Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 India

"This is the ultimate cruiser monster money can buy"

    Why I went for it:-

1-The drag force it has (Feels like a superbike in the body of a cruiser)
2-Matte beauty (Jaw dropping looks. Doesn't look like a 230 Kg mammoth due to extended length)
3-Trusted engine with Japanese stamp of reliability and perfection
4-Ease of accessory availability and Kawasaki schemes.
    5-Decent value for money
6-Easy to drive in bumper to bumper traffic
7-Twin parallel engine does not burn your thighs while driving (Intelligent placement in comparison to V twin body burners)
    8-Easy to clean matte color
9-Headlight with Led replacement looks stunning
10-With bag grill installed you can take it for a long ride with your Bae
11-Quality of material used is top notch but, the one BMW uses steals the show (Kawasaki can take tips)

    What I didn't like:-

1-Pathetic ground clearance of 130mm (Heart sinks at every speedbreaker and pothole specially with a pillion)
2-Stock seat hurts after 60 mins of continuous sitting
    3-Dirt magnet
4-Filmsy plastic used at various places (Turn off on a cruiser)
5-Tool box is too cramped up and difficult to open/close
6-Insanely expensive accessories (Saddle bags and LED)
7-Back rest needs to be bought separately
8-Not sure why but, i don't feel confident while hard braking at high speeds (Rear tyre stability seems to be a concern)
9-Average is below expectation (15 Kmpl at present & i am optimistic that this would change after servicing)
10-Overhead of setting the rev at 1100 every now and then (Why can't a microprocessor do this job?)
11-The most basic feature "slipper clutch" is missing. Current system is good but every gear takes its own sweet time during downshifting.
12-Petrol tank should have been of higher capacity (14 L is too less) Kawasaki should give an option to go for a custom tank of 21 L as well.

      I agree with your comments.
      Here're mine :

Suspension is a sort of crazy. On one hand, I get frequently "bounced" on rough and bumpy roads (making me feel it's hard). On the other hand, scraping is almost guaranteed at Speed bumps when I carry my 10 year old son on Pillion (making me feel it's soft). I've tried 3 Pre-load settings, but no respite yet !

Mileage is not going to remain as pathetic as 15 KMPL. My current average after 4+ months of ownership is about 22 KMPL.

I got my accessories from III party vendors from Pune and USA which turned out to be cheaper compared to OEM accessories from Kawasaki

Re: Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 India

Guys, I booked my Vulcan last week and going to take delivery this week Saturday.
As everyone knows that, we do lot of analysis before booking a super bike. I also did and do not want to tell the same thing and bore you guys.

Accessories, i decided to go for it once i take bike delivery. Planning to refer DC(Pune) and Ali express. If you have any better options please let me know. Placed order for radiator guard, costed 1600/- from ali express. Yet to choose engine guard, pillion back rest with luggage carrier and Windshield.

As it is only bike i am going to have, i left with no option of driving inside the city. So i want to be fully compliant with traffic rules, like number plate should be as per govt recommended, black sticker should be there in head light, Pollution certificate, etc.

Could you guys please help me to derive all points. So that i can do maximum compliance.... :-) and escape from cops....

Here's a link of official Kawasaki accessories for the Vulcan S --> https://kawasaki-india.com/accessory/vulcan-s/
Wide range of accessories available and you can choose from them

Leave the number plates and the headlamp sticker as it is. The showroom should provide you with legitimate plates and put it on the mounting points on the bike and you should be good to go. Same with the headlamp stickers too. All those are arranged from the showroom itself.

You don't need a pollution certificate for a new bike. After a year of ownership, you need to start renewing the pollution certificate every 6 months. Hope it helps.

          Cheers and Ride safe!
