I purchased a new FZ v3 and its been 3500 km on the odometer.
A couple of issues have been irritating me.
1. Hard gear shifts
2. Vibrations past 4.5k rpm
1. Ever since I purchased it, the gear shifts have been hard especially between 1 and 2. At first I thought it was because the bike was new and would sort itself out over time. Later when I rode a FZ v2 which had crossed just 2.5k km, I was surprised to see that the gear shifts were smooth. So I raised a complaint with Yamaha customer care and a showroom mechanic called me asked to drop the vehicle off for inspection. Next day when I went to collect it, he told me that the tension in some spring in the gear box was less and he increased it. When I took it out for a test drive, there wasn't much improvement to be frank. Only difference I noticed was that when engaging from neutral to first gear the clunk sound is louder and the rear wheel tends to move a little. Is there no hope for this bike?
Another interesting thing i noticed at the showroom was that there were two FZ v3 bikes standing and i tried to change the gear in them. I noticed that one of them had hard shifts like mine while another almost moved easily without much effort. Is this normal for two bikes of same make to have different gear shift feel? Are the clutch plates worn? Should I claim warranty?
2. My decision to buy the v3 was out of liking in the smoothness of the v2. I like the smooth throttle response. This bike is not the same although the engine is borrowed from v2. I can noticeably feel vibes on the handlebar past 4.5k rpm. Is this issue related to issue #1?
I feel like I made a big mistake by skipping RTR 160 4V for this one.
