  • [Ownership Thread]: Yamaha RX Series Ownership/Modifications

I tried to find a thread specifically for the Yamaha RX Series and couldn't find any, there are various threads for different kinds of things for these bikes but not one as a single thread where everything is in one place so I decided to start this one hoping to get everything under one roof for the RX series bikes.

So to start off, these are some of my own queries regarding the RX100 that I own :-

    So,
    * I changed my bikes air filter to the K&N RC1060
    * Got a NMW CDI(RX135) and swapped the connectors from the RX135 type to RX100 type

I am currently running with the stock jet sizes(#20 pilot, #115 main)
and needle in the middle(changing needle position either way just makes it worse everywhere in the rev range) with the K&N thats making the bike richer in the top end and leaner in the low end to mid range.
So if I set the idle AFR from the air screw to be richer ("perfect AFR" with the stock jet) the bike gains lots of power in the low revs but then the top end suffers from being rich and bike loses power there and sputters a lot.
If I set the idle AFR leaner(1-½ turns out from fully seated with the air screw) then it gains a bunch in the top end but loses power down low and has cold start issue.

So to resolve this issue I'm thinking that changing the pilot jet to #22 and the main jet to #120 should do it but I need some advice on that.....and the big question is that where can I find compatible jets(maybe use jets from a modern bike that will work with the RX's Mikuni carb)???

The CDI has made the cold starts much better and overall power has increased but I need to know the specs of the CDI like what is the RPM limit and what timing it runs so that I can compare the difference with stock CDI specs.

Everything else in the bike is stock.

    Thank You [emoji4].
