Finally, an Indian rider in MotoGP. It has been confirmed that Preetham Dev Moses will participate in the upcoming MotoGP round to be held in Malaysia on October 19. Preetham, who has received a wild card entry from the FIM, will be riding a 250cc Aprilia in the races. He will also compete in the following round in Valencia, Spain, on October 26.

The Chennai-based rider will be managed by Chuck Akslind, who has also been the manager for Kenny Robert’s team.

Preetham became the first Indian to test for MotoGP when he rode a 125cc Aprilia on the Zuhai International Circuit in China on September 1 and 2.

Preetham’s entry into MotoGP has been a long time coming and he will have a billion people cheering him on when he takes to the track next month.
I hope this is true. :: AUTOCAR INDIA - CAR AND BIKE MAGAZINE ::

Killer :- can u confirm the same?

I request all XBHPians to watch MotoGP on the coming Sunday and support Preetham.

He got a wild card entry. And I don't think one can get two wild card entries in the consecutive seasons especially when you can't participate in the first one due to lack of sponsors.

So much for all the anticipation, guess our country has'nt matured enough to see motorsports as an avenue to bring accolades to it, hope this changes soon

Read "not in the near future", but atleast he's being recognised among the various other talents available, that itself is a big deal

Hope he gets the opportunity next time ...

However the brighter side of the story is that with sufficient time left for the 2009 MOTO GP series, Preetham is confident that he will be able to generate the required funds and additional sponsors which will enable him to race in the entire MOTO GP series next year.
This is the better news ... With only 2 races this year, a whole season in another year is better ...

But, Why doesn't Vijay Mallya help? He is so interested in such stuff ... right??

Because Vijay Mallya knows that F1 is more popular in India than MotoGP.

^^Well as i see it he's not really making millions in F1, so he might as well help out a guy, i'm sure he would'nt be disappointed if he does, but i guess it's easier for us to sit here and say things than actually be able to get so far as Preetham has got presently

It is not about sponsoring a guy. It is a whole team and MotoGP teams are not at all cheap to maintain. Easier or difficult, we can definitely say. We have the right to say. NK failed, Force India failed. It is not easy to gamble BIG money on a motorman again in India. No offence to anyone though but that's the reality. Lets' face it.

But Preetham has quite a illustrious career compared to his four-wheeled compatriots, i'm sure the interest in F1 increased only after the advent of Indians into it's foray, if it works for F1 why not for MotoGP too? And we don't expect anyone to form a team as such, which is firstly not feasible, and also would like jumping into a pit of lions knowing you have only a pocket knife. But if he had atleast been sponsored we could have seen Preetham into MotoGP. And i'm also quite surprised why Red Rooster did'nt chip in, is it that costly an affair?
