Well I guess its been late, but still never too late.
Last April 2009, the MOTORIST group led by Eugine (sorry if I have wrongly spelled) organised a Rally on safe riding followed by Motocross Race (2-strokes and 4 strokes). All the bikers were assembled at about 8am in the morning at Jingkieng Football ground with their machines ranging from scooty to Royal Enfields. I was then with my younger cousin, Jonathan and Brandon my buddy and it was our first participation in any rally and the first time heading to watch the motocross. We were addressed a short speech in the ground and then took off the rally with about 100 bikers through the streets of Shillong. We took the G.S. Road for about 25 kms and halted near Umiam lake where the Race was supposed to be held.
I still do remember Owangdi and Branden rehearsing before the race with crowds eyeing on them. But it was worth the practice because both took off with the 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the 4Stroke drag. The only condition unfavouring both our riders were the tyres. Both were riding with normal-thread tyres and were not intended for off-road race. But it was amazing to see both skilfully maneuvering and tackling the dusty and slippery track. The rider who took off with the 1st position had what many called "Chocolate tyres" with a good grip on the ground thereby giving an edge on turnings.
This was the day I first met Conrad/Bink/Lilmc, Owangdi, Branden, Brian, Derick, Kim, Ashim and the rest of the xbhp group members and other riders from Shillong. Even though I had registered xbhp since 2005 when i first got my discover, I was inactive and never thought that members from Shillong were riding together. And by each passing day, I now feel that "xbhp" is a part and parcel of my life just as biking itself.
Well I guess thats enough of talks and emotions else I might end up with my History with xbhp. hehehe
So enjoy the Pics of the rally cum motocross!
