  • [Photo Feature]: YBX for Group D

    Guys

Would like to know what all to be looked at if I have to prepare my YBX for the Group D category racing, just thought instead of selling this why shouldnt I try my hands on the tracks which I have done long back on my friends bike(atleast 10yrs back) not seriously but just for fun we had hired Kari track, not having proper gears at that time and used it the way it was not supposed to be used. Now am old, but still thinking about going back to tracks with some proper gears and bike.

I had a discussion with Anil of Apex Racing, they are renting out bikes / gears for the track day. I would want to prepare my bike for the group D category, if you guys can throw in some light it would be great.

To give few info about the bike

    1. Bore - Standard
    2. Sprocket - Half worn out
    3. Tyres - New (Front MRF 2.75*18 & Rear 3.00*18)
    4. Year 2000
    5. Pickup - The lowest, because of the age
    6. Clutch Plates - Changed is sometime back by a local mech, not happy with it.
    7. Seats - Used by a elderly person and he had added 2" of foam for his comfort

Pls suggest what all has to be done for improving performance and make it track spec

Mods - Pls approve this thread (May be this could be in Help me)

          Change sprockets
          change in chain
          Change the Bearings
          Change all Cables
          Get a disc fixed

          airfilters - any suggestion
          change the handlebar

Any changes to be done in the engine - hear some noise when I rev the engine as if there is some contact between parts....

I heard Uni filters are better than K&N. I'm no expert here though.

Will Change both - Preferable a bigger one for rear

              Wheel Bearings

              Pulsar / Gladiator Discs

Uni is better and cheap I heared

Engine will leave it some time after changing oil

Thanks a lot, I am in coimb for some time and now I have a reason to save money and spend it on racing just for the fun of it!!!

While I have a leather jacket and gloves, I think I have to rent the ankle length shoes!!

Browse though the FMSCI web site. http://www.fmsci.in/

Over here you will find all the info you need to prepare your bike for various events and various classes .:: The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India ::.

Also look at the bikes that are homologated for racing .:: The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India ::.
I think those bikes that are not in the list might not be allowed to take part, in FMSCI events.

Weight reduction.. Think along those lines if they permit it. What all can be removed from the bike to reduce the weight and improve the power to weight ratio. Fibre fuel tank, thin seat, no indicators, lights, battery, lighter exhaust etc etc ( whatever is permitted as per the rules.. )

My offerings to the gods of speed -

                          - KTM Duke 200
                          - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

its group D and i think that is for stock bikes ,you can remove the chain cover, rvms, saree guard ,crash guard ,lights etc i think you will have to retain the battery though .dont know wether ybx is still permitted as its a discontinued model
