      Brief write up and pics

Mawpdang Mawiong is located beyond NEIGRHIMS at about 15 kms from the main town of Shillong. The event started with some introduction, speeches and a minute of silence in remembrance of all those who died in accidents. The weather played with us all day long for there was a mixture of sunshine, cloudy sky and rain throughout the day making the tracks for the riders very challenging. Seeing the condition of the tracks few back-off even before they started while the rest stood up to the challenge that beckoned their motocross spirit. The tracks showed no mercy to both men and machines and almost every rider had to kiss the earth and taste its dirt.

Altogether 19 xBhpians volunteered as Marshals for the Motocorss events to raise funds for the physically challenged people and to gain experience as Marshals. We definitely had a rough day yet fun moments pushing the bikes that were stuck in the one-foot depth mud, lifting both the riders and their machines throughout the day, giving directions and marking the tracks after every race categories. At many times endangering our very own life while performing the duties of Marshals in-between the maddening riders whose objectives were the titles, the trophies and the certificates besides the cash award!

In the beginning, I descended on the field with the motive of capturing some good pictures to share with the xBhp community members. However, after clicking few shots and being tempted by the action in the ground by the Marshals, I packed the camera, left it with Jetu and Conrad and joined the rest of the gangs in their muddy experiences with all the dirt that followed. The fun was to such an extent that my shoe got stuck twice in the muddy tracks while running to help a rider whose RX got stuck in the battleground. At the end of the day, the shoe looked like a "Mud-Burger" with its sole wide opened and finally had to dump away.

Thanks to all the members of the xBhp community for volunteering the event. Keep up the spirit of brotherhood, as a team, as a community. Cheers! Long live xBhp!

Quote from the Meghalaya Times daily:
North East Monsoon Motocross 2011 Written by the Editor Sunday, 26 June 2011 07:25
      Our Bureau
SHILLONG, June 25: The zeal for bikes and bike races was brought alive this monsoon by Consistently Rising efficiently Serving Together (CREST). The organization organized a bike race entitled North East Monsoon Motocross 2011. The event was held at Mawpadang, Mawiong, today. Fifty-two (52) bikers from all over the North Eastern states took part in the event.
The dual mission of CREST this season was to spread awareness on road safety measures and to raise funds for differently able children through the event. An amount of Rs 15,000 was donated to Dwar Jingkeyrmen established in Dhankhati. N.E Techno, Valvoline Hotel Knight Inn, and CREST jointly donated the amount. Sajjad M Ail who received the amount on behalf of the organization was obliged and thanked CREST for the endeavour taken. He further added that this was the first time he attended such an event. The state needs more such efforts from the youth.
The race was divided into four categories namely expert, novice, four stroke, and beginners. The first prize was awarded to Anthony Lyngdoh from expert category. He received a cash amount of Rs 21,000.
Speaking on the occasion the general secretary of CREST Ravi Sharma said, “Roads can be safe if we are careful and drive safe”. This is a small effort taken by CREST to stop accidents in roads due to unsafe driving and spread awareness on road safety. A small token of money donated with the hope that it can bring back smiles in some faces.

This was just a start and the track condition still looks better.

Single we win, united we fall!
One mistake you are doomed to be last in the battle because the track will show you no mercy.

@ All: thanks a lot guys.

@ Princesirohi:Well that was actually during the practice round. The pulsar had the motocross dirt tyres but the mud was too very thick that at many times even the chain got jammed .

Note: The event was organised by CREST and only the Volunteer Support (Marshals) was provided from xBhp (Meghalaya community). The Community therefore DOES NOT hold any responsibility with regards to the enforcement of the extra protective gears of all the riders apart from the helmets during the motocross race . Thankyou and enjoy the photos.

                      More set of pics.

The track markings got lost in the mud too. Hence confusion and almost collision.

                      the Bad Boys III

Even few riders didn't put on their chest guards due to its weight specially with the water and the mud.

Need Help to win the race!

                      two down!

                      Four down!

Check this above photo and observe the position of the riders and their bikes. some had 90 degree turn while few even had a 360degree turn. some racing against the mud, some already off their bikes, one even facing the starting line

And the marshals confused at who is needing the most help!

Here I was still running behind the riders getting confused myself.

The men behind the winners of the race!

                      Want to play?

That is what you get when you help the racers reach their finishing line.

                      Cheers for xBhp Community

Anthony Lyngdoh, receiving the prize of the 1st position in the Expert Category.

Eugene, President of Motorsports Club of Meghalaya.
It was inspiring to see him racing even in his thirties. As he said "the track was challenging but much more inspiring to see more and more younger riders in the motor-sport events unlike during our days when only about 3 or 4 riders used to take part."
                      Keep up this spirit Eugene!

Nangsan Kharluki receiving the first prize in the Novice category.

Jaja (Yowanki Nongrum) receiving the 2nd prize in the Novice category

Naylin receiving the 2nd prize of the open category (all stroke)

                      Branden receiving the consolation prize.

That is it for the day!
                      Cheers!
