At this moment, I'm unable to process my thoughts and put them into words to elaborate on what went inside me on that cold and cloudy Sunday morning. How do you explain the sudden dash of impulses at the sight of Stelvio Pass or Transfagarasan highway if, you were to view it from the saddle of a motorcycle? Or how do you tell your trip log readers about how you screamed inside your helmet after you crossed the Rohtang Pass? There is nothing in this world you can compare them to. The sight of MotoGP bikes in motion is nothing less and is quite mesmerizing. It's really hard to explain what a petrolhead 'd experience then. It's a heavy rush of emotions flowing all over your body. At times, I 've found myself to be looking at some person standing next to me, wanting to just speak a few words and not knowing what to say. And at the end, it was always a pumped up YEAH!!!!

Yeeeeaaaahhh, MotoGP. God it brings my memory back of Sepang. It's is truly a dream watching these machines go around the track. It doesn't even look real, we get so involved in it as if we are part of a whole new world of screaming V4s and In-lines
I was telling one of our fellow xbhp member to be ready to make a video of the MotoGP start as it is a different world with 24 most powerful 2 wheels rev together to get the best pickup off the line. I wanted to capture that moment, but those few seconds feel like minutes and you get lost in the roar of those machines.
I even drool to this day thinking about that roar of engines. Heck I had a headache the previous day in QP without earplugs, but the start is the best part of the race for a live spectator on site.
Honestly Makky - I can't thank you enough for sharing this. For me, reading and watching these pics is like living that time on that Sunday of 2011.

Keep them coming

Now, that was just a part of the whole show. Just about myself, a fraction compared to what was going on there.

By 9AM, sector C was completely full! Huge crowd. Our sector had a large number of stalls selling merchandise products belonging to motogp, riders and the teams. And without a doubt, yellow/46/The Doctor/Rossi items were an absolute rage. Rossimania at its best in central Europe. I bought a t-shirt myself, cost me a bomb - 35 Euros. It's sheer stupidity to pay so much considering the fact that it's an ordinary cotton cloth. When one shells out so much, one 'd expect a quality matching that of Reebok or Nike or Adidas, doesn't matter whether it is made in India or Bangladesh or Pakistan. Thoroughly disappointed. But, I hope that it 'll do something good to me when 'm wearing it someday, may be, the same way I 'd recognize a MotoGP/Rossi fan at a bus station at 3.30AM without even speaking a word.

There were 2 Ducati Desmos taking passengers, one being ridden by Randy Mamola himself. You can easily tell which one of two is Mamola, because he always out in front. Still got the juice in him. This drama usually takes place before the race at all the tracks. These bikes are managed by a team of mechanics from the UK and they still have the old proper Ducati colours.

I'm losing steam......!

After the Ducati passengers' run, there was a piece of drill by the Czech policemen on BMW bikes which were as agile as a boat, certainly a forgettable event. Minutes later, 2 Saab JAS 39 Gripens from the Czech Air Force ripped everyone below. I had been to one of the air shows a couple of months back. So, I was sort of relaxed not clicking photos but, I was enjoying the supersonic music.

The Safety BMW M6 cars made numerous runs before the race. The exhaust note is just lovely. One of them put on a show - BACKEND STEPPED OUT and the crowd loved it!

Then, the Moto2 race began. Sweet! What followed was a train of race bikes running like wild animals. Blimey! What a sight it was!

On the same day, there was F1 at Spa, Belgium. If MotoGP race were to be held at 1400hrs CEST as usual, it wouldn't have been aired on tv thanks to F1's popularity and money. Hence, MotoGP was rescheduled to 1300hrs and the organizers had the scapegoat in Moto3 for Sunday.

MotoGP is the most delicious piece, doesn't matter even if, the race is a parade and has no battle whatsoever. It just doesn't matter to the people watching it live. Yes, on a broader sense.

The secret is to be in the slipstream all the way. And just before a few turns to the finish, pull up, brake late and make it stick. Avoid the battle. The old dog still has a lot tricks in the bag.

Karel Abraham - cool down lap

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

.................................................. .....................................

There are a few things I 'd like to mention. What's the point of being inside the ROSSILAND not talking anything about it.

As many around the world think, Rossi 'fanboys' aren't fanatics. They are men and women who love GP racing deep down. Plain and simple. Usually, when riders fall off the track and when they get back on their bikes and rejoin the race, everybody cheers the rider(s). It's a tradition that runs among the spectators. Rossi's fan club is no different. There was one particular incident that really shook me up. The second pack had Cal, Bautista and Rossi. And Cal trying to break away and catch the leading group pushes too hard only to go to the gravel. Believe me, the whole sea of people around me were left disappointed! They didn't want Cal to go down. Now, as you know, Cal is Rossi's rival both in the race as well as for the championship standing. That was very startling for me! And when he rejoined the race, everyone was on their feet applauding.

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

.................................................. .......................................

The essence of MotoGP undeniably lies in the factory bikes. The pack of M1s, RCVs and Desmos is an unadulterated and pure madness. Blindfold me, I can identify who is who! All of them have very distinct sounds. When they follow one another, there''ll a surge inside you if, you happened to watch them live. When the riders go downhill "into the forest" at breakneck speed before a tight right hander at C6, it's real scary even for a spectator. I can't express in words what my thoughts were. Real scary.

The Moto3 machines when running sound like a swarm of bees! The race was very typical. A long of riders fighting for the top spot. And hats off to the kid whom I saw limping (on crutches) on Thursday - Luis Salom.

Wow those are some amazing shots for a point n shoot camera Makky. I'm impressed. But you see the trick is click them when their braking so the shot is made when their in mid corner

But your view was equally good. Those pics of the 3 spaniards looks they are almost in touching distance and it's great to capture Rossi and Bautista back n forth like you shot.
I was never a fan of the BMW X series - they felt normal to me, but since I saw and heard it running around the track, I fell in love with the X6M. It's a killer of a machine, literally to die for.

@R-series: You are right about "clicking when they are braking"! An excited person coupled with people jumping in front of you and smokey and cloudy weather meant that I could never be at my best. Lame excuse but, it's past. So, I won't break my head too much.

Will I come back again? Let time decide that. But, I feel that some things in life are to be experienced only once. Do it again and again, it 'll lose its charm.

22 years later and 7000 kms away, I taste GP racing first hand, an experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life! Eeeeeeeehaaaaaa!

Makky: Both the Beemers I posted are also the M series versions. One is the M3 other is the X6M. Fully loaded for track use. I personally love the X6M, more after I heard it speeding on track. But I get it that the one you saw might be different. They normally don't bring their best stuff down to South East Asia anyway.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.
