WSBK 2014 gets rolling thread approved

I was planning to start this thread after seeing the testing times and seeing Ducati doing decently in the hands of Giugliano

Things to look out for are the Hero EBR bikes in WSBK and Mahi Kawa in WSS. Hope they telecast the series on Indian TV. Last year was very irritating.

WSBK rides for 2014. Choose your pic.

I vote for the Kawasaki, that goes without saying. The one with number 1.

I thought there is already a thread available and was willing to post the pics.

By the way, 1st race is coming up this weekend, anyone knows which channel is telecasting it here. If any channel is telecasting it at all ?

Race 1 on Star Sports HD2! at 6 am on Sunday 23rd Feb.

Race 2 on Star Sports HD2 at 8:40 am on Sunday 23rd Feb.

WSS not being telecast as usual.

First race of the motorcycling season. YAY.

          ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

From the above pics, Chaz Davies Panigale and the MV Agusta look the best Though they will probably be at the back of the grid. The EBR machines were seriously off the pace, whether it was due to machine or rider, or a bit of both, i wonder.

Sorry for the trouble and asking to spoon feed...I never followed WSBK. Whats the format like? Is it like MotoGP- Free Practice, Qualifying and then final Race?

Plan to watch this until MotoGP starts. If its good enough thats one more Motor Sport to watch out for..

Yes the format is similar to MotoGP, especially now that Dorna owns both. The difference being that on Sunday there are two races and not just one.

MotoGP has Factory and open, WSBK has factory and Evo.

If you watch and enjoy Moto2, then you will surely enjoy WSBK, lots of fairing bashing and fast lap times with deteriorating tyres and tons of overtaking with Marco Melandri being the scariest of them all

Watch it this week, you will get hooked, the only problem is in India last season all the races were not telecast on tv, that is the bloody problem.

And only if we got to see the Superpole as well. one lap one chance, fastest guys land in front of the grid.

That's what excites me the most.

I had plans for a 2hr workout session on Sunday morning, guess will have to move that. Good that I got HD now but will have to sleep early on Saturday eve.

Now since BMW are out of wsbk as far as factory support is concerned, anyone knows who's managing the team this year?

Got to watch out this weekend. Only PIA is Sports channels, they treat Bike racing very bad.

Factory and Evo have results on the same sheet just like in motogp, where open and factory have results on the same sheet.

I don't know which page I have liked on FB, but that posts good amount of info regarding wsbk. That helps in making me understand what you two are talking about

As for the pics, these bikes are not only moded for performance, but also for looks.

You got any streaming link (free ) ? Almost every site has pay per view. I don't have TV with me where I live at present.

                          Ride safe and have fun.

Alright then, for the new guys who already follow MotoGP these bikes will seem to be slower, but all the more closer racing.

Format of races is as follows:

                              Friday - FP1 and FP2 - 45 min each
                              Saturday - FP3, FP(30min), QP1 and QP2 for 15 min each.
                              Sunday - Warm up 15min, Race 1 and after 2hr40 min it's Race 2.

Although I'm not such an experienced guy with WSBK (compared to Motogp) but I have followed the results from the time of Troy Bayliss in 2008.

Some of the riders at times get really aggressive. Ben was a phenomenon to watch. Giugliano last year was impressive. Even Milandri on the Beemer was someone to watch out for
The bikes to watch out are the Kwakers, Aprilias, Beemers. MV and EBR are new so I really can't comment. Aprilia was a killer down the straights last season, I expect MV to perform better but WSBK is not a bike review but racing, so I will save my opinion for future

The MV is ridden by Claudio Corti who raced with Suter in Moto2 from 2010-2011 and then Kalex in 2012 before switching to MotoGP for the last years season with FTR Kawasaki.

                              Rule changes for 2014
A limited number of engines (eight) per rider/per season.

A limited number of gear ratios.

A price cap on the brakes.

A price cap on the suspensions
In order to ensure that there are a sufficient number of riders with competitive motorcycles on the grid, the MSMA has agreed to provide, on request, a complete motorcycle package at a fixed prize, for the years 2014, 2015 and 2016.

The motorcycle packages supplied will be the same as those used by the manufacturer and will receive certain updates and maintenance from the manufacturers during the season.
Under the new rules, there will be a sub-category known as the EVO class. This class will follow the FIM Superbike technical regulations for all chassis, suspension and brake components. On the engine and electronics side, however, these motorcycles will follow the present FIM Superstock rules. The price cap on brakes and suspensions will be the same as Superbike.
