  • Isle of Man TT Races

Don't know if you follow the IOM TT. It's one of the most exciting road race series in the world and we're actually getting good coverage of it on ITV.
It's on for the next week or so (practice this week and the racing next). Here's a video of Guy Martin doing a lap. He's an awesome rider but mad as a box of frogs.

    Enjoy.

I have been missing this race since 2 years in a row. Next time I am going for sure, at least as a visitor if not as a race marshal.

            On the grid this year.

            Team Agni

Few teams have more experience in electric race bikes than Team Agni. Team leader, Cedric Lynch built his first electric competition bike from plywood in 1981.

For the TTXGP, Team Agni has converted a 2007 Suzuki GSXR 600 fitted with two Agni 95 reinforced motors and a Kokam lithiumpolymer battery of 63 cells totalling around 16 kilowatt-hours of energy. According to the team, this will give an impressive 40 to 50 horsepower averaged over the length of the race.

            The Team:
            Arvind Rabadia: director, organiser (India)
            Hasmuk Rabadia: organiser (UK)
Cedric Lynch: motor inventor, team mechanic

Donald had a nasty crash earlier in the week. so i doubt the king of the mountain will be racing this year. that's too bad. i heard rossi will going to watch the toughest racing on two wheels too..

I saw an interview with the late great Scottish racer Steve Hislop a few years ago. He was asked by the interviewer when he broke the IOM TT lap record at the time... "Steve, how did you manage to ride the course so fast?", he answered.... "I just aimed for the black bits between the green ones!!"

These guys must be mental. LOL.

Dave Jeffries was killed at the Isle of Man a few years ago. These two videos show a lap he did in 2002 on a GSXR1000. Awesome for a big heavy dude although I guess it helped keep the bike where he wanted it to be. What a rider. Put it on full screen mode and start leaning with him...

I don't know if you guys will get coverage in India of this year's race but it's on ITV 4 in the UK. It might be on some satellite channels. I'm sure a lot of it will eventually be posted on YouTube. The new average speed for a lap of approx 37 miles was set at 131 MPH. Wow!! In 1907 that average speed was about 38 MPH. Crazy difference.

                    Hope you enjoyed the vids.

This race sure is tough! I heard that only 2 Indians ever participated in it? One being Aspi Bhatena, from Bike India.

Is it true that only 2 Indians participated in it? and Why such less number I wonder?

Anyways, I saw the strangest things happen here, crashes, front wheel concussions, crazy long jumps, even a racer banging against the footpath, etc.
I have been a follower of these type of races and love them!
