I too was there at the same time. Was walking around in my DSG jacket and a camera.

I must congratulate Yamaha for a job very well done, I got 5 - 6 calls last week regarding the event including one from the Yamaha office and encouraging me to participate in it. Not to mention numerous SMSs. They had an ambulance on standby (saw someone being taken away in it as I walked in) and managed the event and the crowd quite well. There were of course some fools who had scant regard for safety which neither Yamaha nor God could help. I remember seeing someone fall and the crowd rushing across the track while the freakin race was going on despite Yamaha officials sternly warning them over the mic not to.

Kudos to the participants as well, I thought the novice category would have beginners taking it nice and easy across the track but these guys were pounding their bikes lap in and lap out. There were quite a few interesting bikers - there was one who looked like he had a scalded butt (kept lifting his backside during the race to show off and finally in doing this he got overtaken) and there was this one young chap who took an R15 without a helmet and pulled off a massive stoppie. He turned around and tried to do it again in front of the entire crowd and fell splat on his face ......

Overall a very enjoyable event, the crowd was really into the races by the end and was cheering the riders enthusiastically. Yamaha did a very good job in organising the event and deserve a big thumbs up. Just one request Yamaha, next time please get a better DJ.

The Race was good. As I am a beginner, and this was my 1st ride on a track, I enjoyed the real performance of R15.

Most of the riders are least concerned about their safety. Many were not wearing even a normal jacket for protection. Yamaha should have stressed more on safer ride with more riding gears. Even the Yamaha test riders were not wearing knee guards, one had a fall in the second last corner and had his knees dressed up.

The track wasn't that good to lineup 8 bikes in a single race. Most of them jammed in the first corner and some had a fall. Though it was a nice experience for the beginners to learn about the tracks.

This weekend yamaha is hosting the race in Coimbatore. The National Racing track. Hope to ride in....
