exactly...atleast some info on the tech specs would be good...maybe tvs wants to make sure that their bike stays on top of the spec chart..common tvs..no company is going to upgrade their bikes to beat your rtr specs WITHIN A MONTH...you can safely release it...
or on second thought..sept10 may be another eyewash...

            • guys just slow down i have a doubt that they may launch a new Fuel Injected RTR160 rather than going for higher cc bikes

RTR 160 is a flagship model & they are suffering from vibrations & FI failure they may address them with real smooth & put to compete with R15

There may not be increase in power but there may be some change in the power characterstic & the way they have been delivered.....there may be three valve ( dual spark plug)

one thing i like to feature in the FI (so called for launch) is 6 speed gear

If this is the spec i will just go & buy one....

              RTR 160
              160
              62 x 52.6mm (as per orginal)
              FI
              3v
              6sp
              oil cooler
              15.5 bhp & 14 nm (orginal is 13.2 nm)
top speed is 120kmph (true speed)
              mileage......... who cares

RTR 160 Fi as of now produces 15.7 bhp and has a true top speed of 120 kmph. why do you want less power and same top speed ?? we've gotto be greedy . we shud be asking performance comparable to R15

                • Ducati of India (TVS) vs Aprilia of India (Hero Honda)
                  Apache RTR180 vs Karizma ZMR
Apache RTR Hyper Edge vs Karizma R
                  Apache RTRFi vs CBZ Extreme
                  Apache RTR160 vs Hunk

TVS competitively follows the Indian market and its leader.Contradictory to some thoughts,TVS doesn't follow Bajaj.TVS is company which has all kinds of engines and designs ready for all kinds of segments till 500cc.All it does is to watch and wait and then drop.Ever since the RTR180 was launched,TVS targeted Karizma, why ??? Its because, the feud started long ago..........when HH CBZ was launched and TVS Fiero came up.Then TVS tried to gain the performance market by launching the Shadow, but it was axed by Emission norms, while HH got the green light for its new Karizma though costing a bomb.Ever since TVS tried to play the catch up until it came up with the RTR180.Finally when it came up with RTR180,HH took some time and upgraded the current ZMA R with ZMR.TVS again went to the back foot as the ZMA R is still being sold,so it needed something to fill this space without going out of its conventional way taking the competition at par with smaller engines. In comes the three valve tech trained on the Flame, mated it to the oversquare RTR160,to provide some delicious power and torque,power/weight ratio, kill the vibrations and take on the current ZMA-R and P180-this is a model just to fill in the gap and hence, its only a 160cc with 16.5bhp and a smoother ride, its no 250cc.
TVS wont bring a 200cc unless its a Isotope200 motard, and you are getting this model only if HH ever comes in with its Africa Twins.
Next it may also bring the Flame150,which might be the 3V mated to the Apache150 engine,to take on the HH Achiever.
So this is TVS.Expect bikes from it likewise
And it has done a great job,of regaining its market after Suzuki left it.During Suzuki's stay,TVS was only known for Scooties and the Spectra. It has came a long way.
What remains to be seen is the design and build of the bike now, would be the same RTR stereotype looks with good build quality and generous gadgetry on offer or would it be something out of box design.?????
I will put my votes for the first option, till Manan arrives with some better news.

The above "TVS Vs Hero Honda" story doesn't make any sense to me (not to mention difficult to read).

TVS, Hero Honda, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki all are trying to catch up with Pulsar / Bajaj Auto in terms of sales in the 150 cc and above category.

Forget who came in first or last.. the Pulsars have been ruling the sales numbers (the sole reason for business existance) in the 150 cc and above category since 2001. In the same way Hero Honda rules the 100 cc motorcycle category and HMSI rules the gearless scooter category.

Removing a market leader from its position takes a lot more effort than just one or two good product. One can at best take niche positions and hope that the market will move towards this new niche.

It wont make any sense to you,as thats your perspective, that everyone looks upto Pulsar and not to performance enthusiasts.
Sorry, count,Yamaha,Suzuki and TVS out of this.
Only HH wants to lug the market share in their own way and fight Bajaj.

TVS looks for Bajaj only when it comes to make truly pioneering Indian products and trust me TVS is still better at that.Bajaj are the benchmarkers but TVS raises it...........I am taking it neutrally as I dont own any TVS or Bajaj products.

Lets not exceed this discussion and go OT.I want to stay closer to Hyper-Edge discussion.

Ask the same question to the employees working in the companies (pick any from Bajaj, TVS, Yamaha, Hero Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Mahindra.. etc)...
whose annual appraisal and pay increments depends on the sale from the previous calendar year.

That Desi Ducati (TVS) Vs. Desi Aprilia (Hero Honda) was one grand OT I couldn't resist to set the perpective right.

P.S: "TVS" actually doesn't sound bad as the 'Desi Ducati".. but Hero Honda as "Desi Aprilia"..??

I doubt it.......Pulsar,Pulsar and Pulsar doesn't sets perspectives clear, its way too biased Especially when I am taking about the bike here and not its sales.Pulsar is a leader in sales in premium segment,no doubt about that,So is HH Splendour.TVS doesnt want the cut here.It wants the cut in enthusiast's minds.

That maybe an OT to you but it consolidates what people can expect of HyperEdge........thats all from me.Thanks for the interest
