i think tvs should follow bajaj like they did with xcd series ie better phase out flame, use that engine in star or apache(some fan boys may hurt) brand name or lunch with different name, because from beginning flame is commercially a flop model and why to waste that good old 125cc engine in flame

This thread is wrongly titled, I guess what it should be saying is re-start producing twin spark flame!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

Although there is nothing which can stop them from doing that, but then why be seen like following Bajaj?Originally posted by udayrrr View Posti think tvs should follow bajaj like they did with xcd series ie better phase out flame, use that engine in star or apache(some fan boys may hurt) brand name or lunch with different name, because from beginning flame is commercially a flop model and why to waste that good old 125cc engine in flame
According to me, the Star and Apache bikes have become stable brands. It would be wise to strengthen those brands.
But now the problem that I see is that right now there seems to be too many brands for TVS at hand.
1. Apache
2. Star
3. Sport
4. Jive
5. Scooty Pep+
6. Scooty Teenz
7. Wego
and a couple more
8. Flame
9. Max 4R (the load bearing utility bike)
(I am not mentioning the XL Super Moped here)

It would be
PPG:
RTR
Flame
Commuter Class
Jive
Star (city and sports are variants)
Scooterete Category:
Scooty
Wego
Rural Class
MAX 4R
XL50
So not many brands if you ask... less than three in any 'distinct' segment is what the rule book approves of!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

I'll agree with the above categorization with a slight change. I would prefer moving the Flame to the commuter class (can't really club it with the RTR's).
Categorization is ok.. but my point is that, imagine the marketing expenses that will have to be set aside for each of those individual models, as each one of them is a unique brand. One cannot expect the Start or Sport to sell just because there is a TV Campaign for the Jive is on.. right?

If I am not wrong this is how they have defined the BUs. I guess makes sense to them as each BU caters to a different segment and hence demands individual budget...I do agree, there would be an overlap too..Originally posted by payeng View PostI'll agree with the above categorization with a slight change. On the flipside marketing can in itself be an individual function which acts as a sponsor to these BUs..
From what I recollect from a conversation with someone, the Flame was supposed to be a PPG initiative... it got killed by the patent issue and then it went into a limbo of sorts...Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

TVS Flame proves to be a colorful toy. It neither gives a comfortable ride to the owner, nor impresses him with a good mileage. The engine technology failed to provide the claimed fuel efficiency on road and hence, lost the race to other motorcycles in the 125 cc segment.

Yes, I do remember the days when the first photos of the Flame came out in mid 2007. It sure appeared very sporty for its category back then. But the long legal battle has taken up a lot of valuable time and also newer competing (Stunner, P135LS etc.) models have now come in the picture too.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostFrom what I recollect from a conversation with someone, the Flame was supposed to be a PPG initiative... it got killed by the patent issue and then it went into a limbo of sorts...
Actually by now the first upgrade to the flame should have been launched. Nevertheless, I do admire that fact (for those who have bought the single Spark Flame by now) that TVS is still holding on to that product.
And you need to quote a "Blog" for that..??Originally posted by Satyamzma View PostTVS Flame proves to be a colorful toy. +1 to that.Originally posted by payeng View PostYes, I do remember the days when the first photos of the Flame came out in mid 2007. It sure appeared very sporty for its category back then. When we saw TVS Flame first it was very sporty and agressive. But now it is lost somewhere. It has to go into commuter category now.

No matter what TVS does with Flame, it'll be very difficult to resurrect the product as it's already got negative impression as a baggage. It would be better to relaunch it with another name, which will not have any such baggage to deal with.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

TVS FLAME has neither good performance...nor good mileage....Gone are the days of relaunching the same product...with some different name...it works only with Bajaj...Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostNo matter what TVS does with Flame, it'll be very difficult to resurrect the product as it's already got negative impression as a baggage.
