  • 2011 yamaha r6

The 2011 yamaha r6 was unveiled at misano this weekend!

Not much of a difference as fans were expecting an overhaul similar to what r1 got.

However news is that 2012 will get an even bigger overhaul.

Maybe they thought that instead of delaying 2011 R6 too much, let's make it 2012 R6...

And with whatever development is already done, let's release it as 2011 R6.

I'm saying so, because earlier we had a news that 2011 R6 is delayed..

Rossi is a racer, not a designer.

Rossi is a racer, not an automobile engineer.
Yamaha bikes will be the same, and have the same DNA.

Rossi did not make Yamaha what it is today, Yamaha made Rossi.(no offence Rossi, you are one of the best)

And Yamaha have enough of a legacy to continue to sell their bikes, even without him.

And as for you, you are free to go buy a Ducati.

i can't completely agree with this because when Rossi was racing with Honda which gave him many title wins many of them believed that it was the capability of Honda RC211V not the rider Rossi... He simply proved that he is a legend when he rode the M1 with Yamaha... So neither Yamaha made Rossi nor Rossi made Yamaha is true...
I am pretty sure that in 2011 season in most of the races Ducati will be in the podiums... THAT'S ROSSI...

Bro, No offence to you either, but lets not forget where Yamaha was w.r.t MotoGP when Rossi joined them. I believe Yamaha had not won a race for years, in his first race he gave Yamaha a win. It was a collaborative effort from both Yamaha and Rossi, both needed each other.

I agree with you that Rossi leaving Yamaha is not going to affect any bike sales, I mean the name Yamaha itself is a legend and what better brand than an RX.

Everyone who calls himself a MotoGP expert will tell you that Yamaha M1 has been the most technologically advanced bike on the grid for some time now.

So, we cant really credit Yamaha's victories to Rossi alone.

The bike also played a huge part.

the whole point is both the legends met to create another legend....
the M1 for Rossi was developed according to his needs.... i wonder if duccati will be able to do the same..... so it is a collaborative effort of both yamaha and rossi because the pas M1's were not so good so as to be called the most technologicall advanced bikes on the grid....

Yamaha's street bikes have a long history of development and fans believe it's getting better every year.

I think there are hardly any people who were disappointed by the uplifts the models got each year.

This has been the case even when Rossi had nothing to do with yamaha.
So be it Rossi or any one else, these bikes are being developed upholding the R-series DNA.

                    Yamaha sells.

What i assume is that there's not much difference in performance or the bikes itselves.
like a few tenths in acceleration.. some 20-30kmph in topspeeds (not sure if this is right)
and moreover the R-6 shares many similar technological features as the R1 regarding the engine alone.
So these could be the reason but I sure nothing officially would be available to justify the price difference.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Yes, you're right mostly. Acceleration figures differ slightly though..

The bigger/ official reason is the maximum R&D expenditure. These Supersport bikes get updated mostly every 2 years.
The maximum R&D in the production biking world goes into the Supersport Litre Class, as per Bike UK. Patented features like Deltabox frame, etc. further add to the costs as patents are not cheap to purchase.

Think about it -> R6 is about 7 Lacs INR, while FZ1 (1000cc) with more power & displacement is 5 Lacs INR. (UK Prices, bikes not available in India)
