If Bajaj do become no. 1 brand in india who is going to fill no. 2 place? TVS, honda and Yamaha are far away from being no. 2.. Hero motors should stand on its own feet and if they don't there will be anarchy, imbalance in the market. Nobody should has any monopoly. Competition is good for everyone.

Personally I wouldn't like Bajaj to become market leader because those who want to become the leader will have to focus on 100-135 cc market. If we leave 100-135cc market to Hero as it has a firm grip on it and can push its current portfolio for atleast 5 years with current tech Bajaj will buy some time to focus on 150-200+ cc segment. If this happens we might see new premium bikes coming from Bajaj's stable in near future.
It's better be no 2 than no 1. Being at no 1 the amount of responsibilities makes you forget who you really are......

The clear market leader in 2 wheelers will be known in the next 6-9 months. Hero will be nowhere near the top contenders after its breakup with Honda. Its high time Honda makes its mark in the indian motor cycling scene all on its own. Yamaha has made a amazing turn around. Mahindra will take long. Only time will tell.

A couple of years ago, for HH to go from Splendor to Passion, the difference in bore was just 8cc!!!

Going thru one of the most difficult phases today when their identity itself is at stake, they proudly launch Splendor Pro. This shows how serious they are about taking on the challenge from their competitors. Let this launch be a stark reminder of what to expect from HH.

Right you are, antz.bin, that sets the record straight.

The only bikes that created a sensation for me were Sleek, CBZ, Karizma (the original launch in 2001) from HH. Since then its been downhill for HH in terms of design & performance.

Actually, I saw the first Karizma at a HH service centre May 2003. It was there for pre-maintainance service before being sent to showrooms for launch.

HH engines are so strong that they don't need upgrades every year....however after launching Hunk with rear disc i am sure a Upgraded ZMA with rear disc is coming soon our way...

                          Agreed Satyam,

I sold my CBZ last month after a decade for 25k. The guy who bought it was pestering me quite a while to sell it off to him after he rode it once. The bikes still in excellent working condition, no engine jobs till date.

But like someone said in this thread, HH's policy is, "If its not broken, dont fix it". Its becoz of this HH policy that we are yet to see performance & good quality bikes with a fair balance of design & technology on Indian roads. HH has to shoulder the blame as it was the market leader all these years but did not take the responsibilty to transform the Indian biking scene much. The new players - Bajaj, HMSI & TVS & Yamaha (a real old hand) on the other hand have taken that initiative & deserve to be commended for their bold moves.

And what's more.. they priced Splendor Pro at a discount to Discover 100 DTS-Si. I think that's the best compliment to Discover 100. In the past, Bajaj has tried the same thing with Boxer, CT100 to dislodge Splendor.. but that didn't work. Seems like HH is trying the same route now to prevent Discover from reaching the top spot.
