What does this mean for the current lot of illegal SBKs on the streets? Immediate confiscation?

No need for such laws!!! Just reduce the import tariff's & then things will start falling into place.

I totally agree with you. The govt gets enough revenue from fuel, toll and most important TAXES our parents pay(those are only a few things from a huge list). And for what should we pay more tax guys for "Roads that have more holes than SWISS Cheese". If the govt concentrates on reducing the custom duties and other taxes such illegal imports will automatically stop.

ROFL... you made my day bro... but then, its sadly true. Its the sky high taxes and duties that prompt such illegal activities... if they are brought down to nominal levels, it will go down, and more ppl with get stuff legally, which in turn ends up in more revenue to govt.... these ppl have no vision..

Dude Indian government didnt imposed taxes , on imports (Superbikes, atv, etc) to earn money . It is to prevent and safeguard indian bike industry from foreign giants (very high technical knowledge ) and reduce competition .

My friend what competition......manufaturers like bajaj "No Offense by the way i myself own a Pulsar" present Pulsar to the comsumer with new colours and borrowed parts from a few of its iterations. If the govt doesnt remove such barriers we will be for years stuck with small capacity spin-off or wannabe sportbikes.

Who said he's not in love of motorcycles?
I once read somewhere that he & his elite gang of friends own a personal track in Delhi & Mr. RG is fond of riding his fav R1 & occasionally he & his gang visit the track to burn rubbers. Its highly secured area with movements of air also being watched.

I dont mind a small capacity bike like CBR150!!!

If encouraging indian bikers was to be the main reason to impose such high import duties, foreign brands would never have made it to india. We would have kanda, bONDA, Gulsar, blah blah marques dominating on indian roads by now. Indian Government wanted to increase the jobs here in India as well. Foreign companies are given many subsidies to open plants in India. Its the companies' responsibility to launch models based on the demand of the Indian Population.
