Italy hit hardest by economic slump
SALES OF motorcycles in Europe have continued to fall in the first three quarters of 2010 - down 14 per cent for the same period last year.
The statistics have followed the trend of the past three years, where the market has shrunk by a third since 2008: 1,730,821 units down to 1,281,296 in 2010.
Italy rated as the worst-performing country with a drop of 26.3 per cent in the third quarter compared to 2009. The Italian Ministry of Industry are set to combat the slump by renewing financial subsidies for selected two-wheelers.
Along with the UK and Italy, Germany, France, Denmark, Greece, Poland, Norway and Sweden also recorded a significant reduction in sales.
