Kudos to your wife for thisOriginally posted by trustvishwas View PostNinja is just out of reach of most aspirants is what hurts most. In fact, after hearing the price, I wanted to opt out but somehow my wife managed to convince me to buy this bike.
In my case, wifey hates the green colour and i don't like the black one.
Also there is this tiny little problem of bank accounts dropping down to three digits if i do buy it
Lets hope VFR does the trick for me.

I really thank my wife. I was mentally prepared for a price upto 2.25 - 2.50 but when I heard the price, I was backing off but wife told me to go ahead and buy it.Originally posted by Mik View PostKudos to your wife for this

In my case, the bank balance did not drop down to three digits but went up to five digits (in minus)
I hope you are not referring to VFR1200F.

2. Have you heard about metal exchanges around world ? (www.lme.com or www.mcxindia.com) All major metals are traded on exchanges and prices in India or any other contry reflect prices in international market. Even when you compare Gold prices on international markets, you will find them exactly similar in India. So prices anywhere in the world tend to be in a generally similar price bracket.Originally posted by madhav krishna View PostBut you can see the UK is a small country & hence the resources they have are relatively less when compared to a country like india which has larger resources. Hence the UK has to import a vast part of its raw materials which makes it costly. Add to that the high labour etc. While here in india the resources are relatively cheap & add to that the cheaper labour available.
By saying resources i mean the raw materials like metal, rubber etc.
Isnt that enough to make the productions cost down.
3. I have already agreed that labour costs in India are cheaper but as I said earlier, total salaries of manufacturing plant does not exceed 7% in any industry.
Please, please understand exactly what you are saying before posting. This topic is now closed from my side.

Why so much acrimony towards anyone saying that Ninja 250 is an expensive, unaffordable (both capital-wise as well as maintenance-wise) and non-VFM product even for mass premium-niche product. This is a fact and would remain so whenever and wherever it is repeated, more so if it is mentioned in the thread related to ceremoney of handing over of keys to 1000th customer.
Now, some facts:
Whosoever habitually shows the similarity and equality of prices of Ninja 250 in Britain and India purposefully conceal the facts that Suzuki A Star which sells for Rs. 4.90 lakh roughly in Britain starts at Rs. 3.75 lakh in India or so, or the petrol which sells for Rs. 80+ per litre in Britain sells for Rs. 50+ in India. Beware of such publicists. Both the economies are different, have different parameters and values as well as income and consumption levels.
Now, some more hard facts:
I would not mind calling them so though I would, myself being a biker, categorise them as irrational and adamant.Your post implies that Cat.A is " />>>
It is really pathetic that a large portion of members of XBHP and bikers at large have been reduced to a label as such.Cat B is either intelligent or wimps.>>
Superbike owners never justifies the price as being affordable. Rather the ego factor, pleasure motive and biking lust are only satisfied in part by the fact that only rarest of rare can buy/afford and then maintain such bikes. No superbike owner would boast of owning a VFM, affordable and inexpensive yet technically superlative bike. What is wrong in R1 and CBR owner using the same logic? They feel the product is priced right and so go ahead and buy it.>>
Oh!, I was not aware that Yamaha is selling 30,000 bikes per month priced at Rs. 1 lakh or even 3,000 bikes per month priced at Rs. 1 Lakh with No Maintenance Plan for R1 for next 10 years as a gift while also forgetting the fact that price-wise target customer elibility/suitability base between a R-15 and Ninja and a R-15 and R-1 would get reduced proportionately. Sorry, my bad.Yamaha should sale 2500 R1s because it is priced 12 times that of R15 and yamaha sales 30,000 bikes per month.>>
In simple words, Ninja 250 is an expensive (leave alone a VFM bike) bike for large numbers of us Whimps (oops!, I mean bikers).

Your post suspiciously sounds like a jealous rant and nothing more. Good to see the kwackers attaining the target sale numbers. This is good news for all of us as this will encourage Kawasaki to bring in more offerings.
P.S: Am surprised how the mods didn't intervene yet on the ongoing debate. This kind of debates are really not acceptable as people tend to take things personally.
P.P.S : I have no probs with the pricing but heck, cheaper the better...If I haven't had other plans, would surely have got this on LOAN
