  • Speed camera capable of catching FIVE offences at once!

THE RATHER unimpressive trailer-mounted camera in the picture on the right is one of a new breed of offence-spotting devices that can detect up to FIVE separate offences at once.

Developed by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, the system can detect a vehicle's speed, registration plate (and therefore tax and MOT), traffic emissions, the gap between following cars and even whether a driver's wearing a seat belt or not.

The whole system is linked to a central database, which can be accessed at any time by other Police vehicles armed with a suitable onboard computer.

It's currently on trial in Finland until the end of next year, after which part of the equipment will be ready for production in 2013, before being rolled out across Europe - and that could include the UK.

    Worried?

We have a better system in India. If and when caught you will be automatically proved as guilty for atleast rash riding\stunting on road if not possible to take your case on any other grounds. No cameras needed! Period!

Our traffic system don't need this because if any officer want to ticket any civilian they can do it at any time (without any reason sometimes), there is so much corruption now a days, nothing works except money.
Pick up a ride and rewrite yourself to a new Identity.....

Well said. If the one shown here comes to India, we'll have highest cases for vehicle speed and seatbelt!
Riding is a way of life. Sometimes, it might also be a way of giving life. So Ride safe. In both contexts.

                    Now thats a good news.

Although i maybe contradicting myself but if this machine comes here then the road racers would have an end. Especially those who ride rashly & irresponsibly. So i think if this machine comes here then majority of people would be following the rules. Hence i think india is in need of this machine. Although i pray that this machine (if at all it comes) does not fall in the hands of corrupt officers.
