After the Sriperumbudur track was foreclosed by the banks, India has been suffering from a lack of road racing action. Well, enthusiasts can breathe easy, for around the corner lies a brand new race track, called Kari Memorial Speedway near Coimbatore. It will be a 2.1 km FIA Formula 3 spec track and will also include a certified 1.2 km track for go-karts. Work on the project is in progress and should be completed by early October. And in a happy synergy between FMSCI and MAI, the track will also host two-wheeler road racing, which too has been absent for a while now. The Speedway is looking for corporate advertising to support its cause and plans to host driving schools, safety schools and corporate programmes to keep the track functioning

Cricket is the most watched sport in India , dude , not F1 ...

but unless of course , you don't consider cricket a "sport" !

Someone said : there are only 3 sports : motorsport , bungee-jumping and river-rafting , all the others are just games .

Any ways there are news that soon there will be a F1 race held in India, after china. The proposed venue is Hydrabad.

I think that is just a load of bull**** from Bernie...
I mean where the hell is he gonna fit so many race-tracks into the schedule.....
Moreover I am not sure Hyderabad has an airport that can handle the really huge capacity needed for the teams to get in their stuff.....
Maybe in 15 years time India will have a place suited for F1, if F1 lives until then.
