    Bajaj Auto starts anti-piracy campaign

Counterfeit parts of Bajaj Auto vehicles seized in raids in Mumbai, Pune

The size of the replacement auto components market in India is estimated to be $4 billion, or nearly 22% of the $18 billion auto component market. And with the Indian auto sector growing at such a phenomenal pace, sales volumes of spurious parts are only going to get higher.

Sadly, its one of the country's leading bike manufacturers, Bajaj Auto which is paying a heave price for this global catastrophe stagnating the auto component business. As per figures revealed by Bajaj, the company is suffering a loss of Rs. 500 crore yearly as a result of the widespread counterfeit parts business, now thriving in India.

    Curbing the 'Counterfeiting' crime

Taking matters into its own hands, Bajaj Auto Ltd has initiated action against counterfeiters & following shops in Balaram Street, Mumbai, which were raided with the help of EIPR Mumbai & Mumbai Police resulting in the arrest of the responsible persons.
    1. M/s. Satkar Automobile (Mr. Sarvinder Sarvansingh)
    2. M/s. Perfect Scooters (Mr. Sarbajit Santuksingh)
    3. M/s. Raj Ratan Automobiles (Mr. Kantilal Pukhrajji Bohra)
    4. M/s. Dilip Auto Agency (Mr. Dilip Babulalji Bafna)

Above offenders have been arrested and an FIR has been filed against them under Trademark act. 4000 pieces of Counterfeit parts, fake packing material, worth Rs. 3 lakh were seized from their premises.

The two and three-wheeler manufacturer has now also taken elaborate steps to ensure that its genuine spare parts are easy to identify. A holographic strip with special characteristics is a part of every packaged part. The details of the security measures are detailed on the Bajaj Auto website: Bajaj

In the best interests of loyal customers of Bajaj Auto, Ramakrishnan Adiga, VP - Space, Bajaj Auto Ltd. has suggested the following tips to potential buyers to prevent them from being cheated of an original Bajaj product.

    1. Check the security features on the MRP label carefully before buying.
    2. Insist on the bill while purchasing spare parts
    3. Purchase spares parts from the company authorized outlets as far as possible

Yeah, that Pulsar lookalike Gulsar, is really a copy of pulsar.

An official spoke about it being "low quality" and having a "fuel tank which doesn't match Bajaj's safety standards.
But that's all they did about it.

But by the way, who purchased it anyways? I have seen many superbikes, but haven't seen one Gulsar in my life!
