      DUH!
IMO an useless international news... back home things are probably better! Head to Pune if you dont believe me!

My girl fancies a moped\step through (which I am trying to shift to a mobike!) What technology are we talking about, I dont recollect seeing a company launch a step through for a while now!

        +1

Even I have seen more women on bikes than earlier (in Mumbai)...

Surprisingly, in my last 2 sightings, they were on R15s. But without helmets
        I like 'em Naked

        Blah Blah Blah!

I've lived in many parts of India. And have always seen alot of gals riding a two wheeler.
But it's diffrent here in Delhi. I rarely see any girl riding a two wheeler. And i could not understand the reason as why in Delhi girls don't prefer two wheelers.
In Punjab, i've seen many Girls riding NV's and chetaks. And the girl opposite my house in punjab rides a Bullet

MG, i don't feel that it's unsafe for girls in any way.
Every single crime gets highlighted because this is the Capital. You will find many cities with far more crime rate and nothing is being said about them.

Your second reason is spot on. Status Symbol.

Delhi is notorious for not being safe for girls/women.

i've got about a half dozen friends who've moved from bombay to delhi...
and they don't go out alone after 7pm.

Oh please. Women get molested in public transport and on the roads in Delhi! Can you imagine what would happen if they are helpless on a two wheeler?! :P. This issue is most prominent in Delhi and its not a highlighting issue.

The reason could be because of No night life in Delhi, But believe me, i have many friends who feel completely safe in Delhi.
