    discover the next splendour ???!!!

bajaj would love to see the D100/150 (as the latest advt suggests) as the next splendour type of bike.
but they will need to work on making the D range superior in reliability and quality.
so, if Hero Splendour falls, bajaj would be ready.
so, where does that leave the big 3 (honda, yamha and suzuki) ?
we all know, commuter is the war in india!
performance biking is just a small battle.
Its high time that a next gen commuter comes here.
but what would this bike have ?
100-110 CC, reliability, mileage, brand name (why does HH sell??), comfort, resale value .
So should others just copy the splendour ? come out with exactly the same model ?
or can the next splendour be a scooter ??? we Indians love our scooters, dont we ??

    just my thought.

The discover 150 is already on roads.
Sorry dude, this kind of news is 'cyclic' in nature, as everyone knows, Bajaj models loose steam within 6 months of launch, so they keep launching new models every 6 months to keep the sales pace

I hope they launch a 4 valve P220 with a swappable head + CDI from the current model . Why does Discover need a new model.. aren't both 100 and 150 new enough? Or are they relaunching the 125(Highly unlikely)?

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

They are new enough..but there are people who doesn't want just a 100cc bike.. and are not too inclined to get a 150cc.. according to Rajiv Bajaj and so far all his moves with Discover & Pulsar are paying off in a big way. So let's just wait & see!!

swappable head for 220.. may be.. but don't you want a new chasis, which would be more agile & corner friendly. I'm sure competition will sit up and take notice as and when this new generation 4-valvers steps into market.

Correct me if i am wrong, but which model bajaj had upgraded within 6 months gap with same cc?

The D100 was launched June 2009 and D150 was around May 2010 and as far as i think none of them are relaunched.

            are they 'cyclic'

                  Laggards and the left out
                  Disc110, Disc125 XCD125 XCD 135 Disc135 - no idea if these models are made now ?

                  Leaders
                  Disc100, P135LS,P150,D150 are doing good

                  Not here not there
                  P220, P180, Av220 Platina100/125

Now going through above lines, one may think Disc125cc is a possibility, but Bajaj will find it very difficult to differentiate with present Disc100 as D100 has already got five gears. If they bring D125 it will eat up D100 numbers.
So Bajaj may work out a Disc180cc with 65kmpl punchline ? After launching the whatever 'Disc', Bajaj has promised another Boxer, Boxer100 is everybody's guess, but it will again eat into D100 pie.

I'll keep my fingers' crossed till the company declares the models. Bajaj must be having tough time finalizing the model/s.

Looks like the phrase "love it or hate it, but you can't ignore it" goes very well with Bajaj, it's very surprising that people who don't like Bajaj write up a lot of comments in Bajaj related threads instead of ignoring them!!
