But while the Diavel is a move away from Ducati's comfort zone the firm has now said it's returning to something it's much more familiar with; confirming there's a new superbike coming soon and no scooter in the foreseeable future.
Speaking to Italian website Motoblog at the 'Passion Moto' show in Padova, Ducati boss Gabriele Del Torchio denied rumours that the firm would make a scooter, saying “Now we are concentrating on the next project for the sports market... We have no maxi-scooter in mind.”
Another man on hand at Padova was Troy Bayliss, who confirmed he's helping develop the firm's next superbike, which is expected to replace the 1198 next year. A superbike developed with help from Troy Bayliss and Valentino Rossi? That should be something worth waiting for.
