Great news Rony, I had been pestering a friend, who works for the Fire Department in Mumbai, for some time now, to consider designing and launching 2-wheeler fire tenders for the challenges faced by fire fighters in the narrow bylanes of Mumbai. Looks like he lost out to Bangalore for this initiative. Hope he takes the lead for Mumbai now.Originally posted by Rony View PostPublished: Saturday, Apr 2, 2011, 9:02 IST | By M Raghuram | Place: Mangalore | Agency: DNA

There are other advanced means of fighting fire without water.Originally posted by tanay View PostA bike wouldn't hold much water...what will they fight fire with?
Other advantages are: they could reach the site of fire much faster and earlier by dodging traffic, assertain the actual situation professionally, take preventive measures and provide logistic support to huge fire tenders before they arrive. Check out the pix below.

For an emergency vehicle, it has to be fast, torquey, stable and safe. But I am sure there will be a desi jugaad for this as well, but i really dont wanna see any low cc bike being used for such a role.www.motorcykle.in - The lighter side of motorcycling

Rightly put.. RE C350 should technically be able to haul upto 300kgs with altered final drive to give more torque and a top end of 70-80kmph.. They can use the engine power to run an external pump to spray a gush of water either from the tank or from an external source like a tap..Originally posted by aargee View PostGood old RE

yes, a hose reel / pipe, pump etc can be mounted on bike and run using engine power, but a bike can't hold water tank, so either it will use water available in normal pipe lines or from bigger fire tanks made earlier in colonies or it can act as an extension to fire tenders i.e. a long pipe connects a firetender stationed at far off place and connected to bike's pump.Originally posted by surya220 View PostRightly put.. The Humble, Rural Fire Tender!!!
