I think Hero fails to acknowledge that our economy is growing faster and faster and people now have more money to spend.
and they continue to target the rural base always. And even they can now afford much more. Even my "doodwalaa" rides a pulsar
Looking at their policy i think its all downhill for Hero from here...
The cheapest motorcycle in India may be on the radar for Hero but Hero surely is off the radar for me.
Men who still dream of being a pilot or an astronaut are yet to ride a motorcycle.

Hero Motors should try for a 90-97cc mill with Fuel Injection and good gearing.

That should settle things up in terms of mileage. And that won't have a "cheap factor" attached to it, due to Fi. Plus the mileage benefits.

Coming up with a diesel is a day dream.. let them first come up with a proper bike on their own. If it was so easy.. the japs would have already done it. It needs lot of R&D, which I think Hero in it's current shape is simply not up to it. They would be better off directing all their energies to get substitute engines to their popular models rather than trying something outlandish such as making a diesel engine.

The "Splendor" is a legend in rural areas, it would be best for Hero to leave it alone and not mess with the wonderful brand that Hero has.

Payeng bhai, don't think they have a choice.. it looks like CD brand is owned by Honda and Hero can't use it after split. So they have to either create a new brand or house it under existing ones.. looks like they are going to take the gamble of branding it as splendor. I don't see any problem with it, if the new bike lives up to the Splendor's reputation.

What if it doesn't?? The honda mill that is the heart of Splendor is a gem. I wonder how hero will find a worthy replacement for that? Eitherway, all that keeps the Splendor's sales going today is the reputation of the bike. The moment that is dented, the sales will take a free fall.

Hero Honda already has a Super Splendor, would a "Minor" Splendor work..??

Also interesting would be how Hero would rename/rebrand the CD Deluxe as you have rightly pointed out that Honda owns the CD brand.

Yep, replicating Sochiro Honda's little gem on a totally new development is a tall task.

That's a very big IF.. and they are royally f****ed if their Nano Splendor doesn't live up to the big brother Desh ki Dhadkan
