Traffic riders with special powers

As part of its efforts to improve traffic movement, Faridabad traffic police on Tuesday evening introduced unique traffic riders who will have the powers to take action against the traffic violators on the spot. The traffic motorcycle (equipped with sirens, blue and yellow lights etc) introduced on Tuesday are the first of its kind in Faridabad, the traffic cops said. "Out of eight unique traffic motorcycles launched on Tuesday, four will remain on national highway number 2 while the other four will be on duty in different areas," said Anil Kumar Rao, joint commissioner of police, Faridabad, after flagging off the fleet.
Till now cops used to patrol on motorcycles but according to the officials, this was for the first time that motorcycles were designed specifically for traffic purpose that too with powers to fine the violators. The traffic motorcycle riders have been allotted the area and the specific timings.
"At the time of traffic jams, the traffic vehicles also get caught in jams and the cops take time in reaching the spot," Rao said, adding, "These traffic riders will switch on the sirens and flash lights that will make it easier for them to reach the spot and clear the jam."
