Hero Honda to become 'Hero Moto'

Was just stating the difficulty involved in making people accept the Hero Moto brand or whatever it is over Hero Honda. Sub brands may or may not be affected, coz people conscious of Honda brand will now shift loyalty to Honda instead of Hero Moto, irrespective of the fact that Hero Moto would still be using Honda engines for some time to come. This is just a beginning for Hero Moto, they have a really long & hard journey before them. The critical juncture would be the moment where they like to replace Honda engines in some of their models, of course that's still a good 3 years away from now. Besides, now Honda is trying to poach their dealers as well. All in all it's tough time ahead for Munjals.Originally posted by vipin_sLet's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

Hero Moto is developing 400cc diesel engine which will be featured in a Sports model..... later that will be seen in an International styled cruiser with all latest techs on it like mobile charger, beer can holder etc..... there will also be two more models..... one naked street bike which will be truly naked in all red color including the tyres developed specially for this model..... and last but not least, there will be a fully featured Splendor featuring the same engine..... mileage seems to be an issue and we are tuning it to deliver good mileage..... expect it to deliver world class mileage in Indian condition, for the first time in India.....Originally posted by Satyamzmawaiting for a true blue 250cc, 26 bhp,6 gears, double exhaust,HD type exhuast sound cruiser from Hero moto
thats all from my side..... hope it clears everyone doubts.....

But anyways the above might be a joke.. but the news about the 400cc diesel is truth AFAIK. Also, Hero Honda will eventually get the CBR engine to launch the new Karizma in. And I expect that one to do much better than the Baby CBR in all respects. And suppose they sort out the new Karizma's lighting and stick to the half fairing.. It has all potential to be a better sport tourer than the Baby CBR.
The same Baby CBR engine in a street-naked / streetfighter avatar will also be a good bargain.. and also something that can compete with a Duke 200. It actually makes sense to put this engine on a naked since unlike the high revving engine on the Ninja 250R, this one is actually tuned more for low end and mid-range.
Splendor already have enough mileage, no need to tweak those, but the Splendor with a twister engine has potential to do better business than all the 125cc bikes from Hero Moto and Honda put together!
Time for Hero Moto to beat Honda in their own game!! Time to bring on your A-game.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

The change in the name will also bring some changes for HH.
Now, when this company alters itself as Hero Moto , it have to be taken by the market/ target audience & this new company will keep the faith which was created by the predecessor attachment .
Hero Group which was banking on Honda for technical assistance made an very wrong move to take over Honda share in own sub continent . It opened a new era for Honda to breathe in more consumers once the tie ends . Honda can be associated with a lot quality than together of Hero Honda . With name change , Hero Moto will have full oppurtunity to explose itself , where the end user will ask every piece of dedication from them .For me an Honda is for quality & Dedication towards product . Hero Moto is presently looking to us a bit non-fludic but soon will change when they brand it well . Going by the present TV-Advert of CBZ XTrme , all does not look good . They should also hire an good team of Ad-makers like Bajaj has always done right from '' Humara Bajaj'' to ''Hunto'' .
But with passage of time people will be trusted by the new Hero Moto if it is able to cater the same level of dedication that is applied presently . It will be really interesting to watch Munjal guys to overcome the mist of brand name . And brands like CBZ & Karizma may not be tinkered with .
I think a large scale awareness willl be spread soon by Munjal group before they change the whole name . They will have to make sure that they will not give consumers something like Hero Puch etc( I m not against Puch) type materials which did not last that much .
The day I got news of the split & I changed my mind to buy ZMR not even an used ZMA . I prefer to wait & go for Pulsar 250 or CBR 250 or wait more till I can go for an sub litre bike a.k.a 600cc , until then the price per litre of fossil fuel will be Rs.100 . Still we'll ride , right .
Hero Moto has a lot to do in our land & now is the real chalenge to see who is number 1 in globe . Bajaj will be an tough contender to fight with & soon with economy understanding that big bikes are not that bad , we'll soon have an fully grown International standard Bajaj (yes with a bit of Kawasaki in it ) . We will be coming up with more race tracks in future & we can have a track day once on a month & that will make us to buy a bike , a practice lap on Sunday & go to office on Monday !!!
Until then Bajaj will be No.1 in Asian Continent .Last edited by rpmboy; 05-20-2011, 03:53 PM."BiKiNg in INDIA is like JOGGING in IRAQ ,something may HIT YOU"

Hero has already pulled in major suppliers to be part of stake-holding, this means the suppliers are part of Hero and will have double benefit, they get contract for sure, next they will share Hero's profit every year for being stake holders. Hero will benefit as it will get cost advantage and stronger vendor relations plus Hero will have positive relations and will be in better position to deal with vendors/ suppliers.Originally posted by chohan.mohitit is very intresting to see what steps will be taken by the worlds leading 2 wheeler company......

Guys please understand, the purpose of this thread is to get ourselves updated with changes happening in a two wheeler company, so why are we comparing Honda with Bajaj and Hutch, it actually feels like a series of brand war happening here.
To cut it short, please feel free to share your opinion about the changes happening keeping others sentiments in mind.
Any further debate will get this thread closed

Branding issues are not superficial but goes really deep. Just a change in the name is no guarantee that it will successfully change the mindset of the people.
Motorcycle/Automobile purchase is a high involvement and emotional purchase. Automobile Brands means a lot to the customers. Much more than any use and throw items like Mobile Services.
For example: After buying out the Govt. of India stake in Maruti Suzuki, Suzuki is trying to distance itself from the Maruti name but in the psyche of the common people the name Maruti Suzuki is very strongly established. Most common people whenever they buy any Suzuki Car in India, they say that they have bought a "Maruti".
In the same vein I have heard this so many times when people buy a Splendor / Passion / Karizma that they have bought a "Honda" Splendor / Passion / Karizma.
One more issue for Hero is to make up its mind whether to go the whole hog to promote the "Hero Moto" parent brand or instead try to focus on the product brands like Splendor/Passion/Karizma/Hunk etc (like Bajaj is presently doing for its Pulsar/Discover).
The former might not very easy to accomplish for the reasons mentioned above. On the other hand a Pulsar/Discover like brand strategy to focus on the product brands might not work out very well for Hero as there are a lot many names out there "Splendor/Passion/Glamour/Hunk/Xtreme/Karizma/Pleasure/Dawn/Deluxe" which will only end up being a much costlier affair for Hero Moto (I guess I can use that name safely now).
Hero doesn't have rights over the CD and CB brands which belong to Honda. Therefore CD Deluxe and CBZ Xtreme will have to be renamed by Hero. (CBX Xtreme "might" just become Xtreme)Originally posted by rpmboy View Post..brands like CBZ & Karizma may not be tinkered with .

that is true. change of name will happen in the organisation but in the minds of people it might still take some time..Originally posted by payeng View PostBranding issues are not superficial but goes really deep. in maruti suzuki example that you mentioned, the plus point for suzuki is there is no maruti now! it is one and the same in the minds of people,
but in this case there will be a hero and a honda. it will definitely confuse the buyers. with this split, honda has got more breathing space whereas hero will almost be starting once again!!

Spot on Payeng bhai, I've heard countless number of times in my village, people saying "bought a Honda". Whether it's splendor/passion or Karizma.. they simply call it Honda!! This is unfortunate role-reversal for Hero when compared to Maruti-Suzuki combo. However, with 3 years to go they have enough time for a long-term strategy. Let's see how they plat it.Originally posted by payeng View PostFor example: After buying out the Govt. of India stake in Maruti Suzuki, Suzuki is trying to distance itself from the Maruti name but in the psyche of the common people the name Maruti Suzuki is very strongly established.
