    Changes expected for the GSX-R1000.

OUR sources in Japan say that while the updates for Suzuki's 2011 GSX-R600 and 750 were fairly small and evolutionary, the changes its GSX-R1000 will get for the 2012 model year are more extensive.

In fact, he said the bike will be “amazing”.

Just what that means is open to interpretation, of course. It's unlikely the GSX-R1000 will get a totally new engine or chassis – both were new in 2009, and haven't exactly gone past their sell-by date yet – but we can expect some weight loss, similar to that of the latest GSX-R600, and a new appearance.

Our money is also on the bike getting kit like ABS brakes, traction control and all the other electronic wizardry that's fast becoming essential kit in the superbike market.

Elsewhere, there's been little in terms of rumours about Suzuki's 2012 range. The firm is sure to have the usual batch of scooters and other updates, but we'd hope to see something that stands out, too – perhaps the much-anticipated GSX-R125 or GSX-R250.

Are they kidding me?? They reduced 8 kgs of weight on their GSX 750R plus the new BPF front Suspensions, and improvements in many other areas too. And they call it fairly small?

Then what would the next gixxer 1000 be? More weight reduction w/ 200 bhp? Where are they heading?

Even today GSX1000R is good at low end torque, road comfort, lesser transmission losses, etc.
No wonder GSX1000R is the favorite Litre Class bike of Joel.

          What's happening with the 2012 GSX-R1000.

          What's happening with the 2012 GSX-R1000.

Is Suzuki's new litre sportsbike trapped in development limbo?

NOT much seems to be happening in regards to a Suzuki GSX-R1000 for 2012 as the new litre sportsbike might be held back.

A new GSX-R1000 is expected with talk surfacing a year ago that a replacement was on the cards, the last update in the life cycle was nearly three years ago with the K9. Visordown even had word from an insider in the Hamamatsu headquarters that the next GSX-R would be 'amazing'.

The main issue surrounding the delay is the lack of superbikes coming out of the showrooms, a problem faced by Suzuki and their rivals. Further to this, at the current exchange rate a new GSX-R1000 would likely cost as much as the impending Ducati 1199 (or Xtreme), a feat to compete with exclusivity of the Italian bike and beat it in the market is a little bit far-stretched for Japanese manufacturer.

An area that Suzuki appear to be focusing on for the forthcoming year is developing small capacity machines for the populace in China and India, as suggested by the patents filed by Suzuki.

With the changes to 1000cc coming into effect in MotoGP next year, the company are reportedly struggling to make a prototype for the premier race series, another possible reason for the delay as time and money are absorbed into a GSV-R project.

These mock-ups from the French publication Moto Revue are merely a guess at the potential design of the update. Our expectations for the new bike are, whenever it is released, ABS brakes, traction control and an abundance electronic gadgetry as standard and as expected for a superbike in the digital age.

Concept guestimation by Moto Revue: not the 2012 GSX-R1000

          In a stealthy black

This would probably be described as an 'alpine' white

The current K9 Gixxer for comparison

With the new MotoGp regulations coming, which allows production bikes to be raced by teams and with a 81mm bore restriction placed.Let's hope that the new gixxer will be similar to the S1000RR and the Aprilia in its config.Although that might be too much to expect,as GSXR1000's usp is it's relatively longer stroke.Maybe SUZUKI will go the HONDA way and make a new V4 configured engine for a production bike and keep the GSXR1000 long-stroke config unchanged.

That's because, as clearly mentioned that it is creative guestimation (guess+estimation).

It's not a real image, but a good Photoshop created by MotoRevue, based on known facts or expectations...
