Have heard from many that the bullet diesel (taurus) itself gives 80kmpl.. And in my village its used to run waterpumps and generators.. IMO if a small capacity diesel engine build from scatch may even give a better FE..
      Great efforts though!!
You gotta risk it.. to get da biscuit !!!

          nice effort by college students............

we guys at xbhp bore out the existing engines for higher cc, like R15 to R16 etc......looks like these guys have done the exact opposite.

          good efforts............

but its not a bike, its a scooter a gearless one.....

i think if they would have used a geared transmission, they could have increased the mileage further......just my personal opinion.

            Excerpts from original article
Fitting a Bullet engine to Kinetic Blaze, .... they reduced 325cc engine to 200cc, flywheel weight reduced to 7kg and power reduced to 3.5 hp from 6.5 hp ...

"We have spent almost 72 thousand on the production of this prototype and with mass production, the cost would be around 55 to 60 thousand,"
The statement simply means a sleeved down diesel engine used on enfields. & too bad if its just that. If one has seen the effort those engines make to accelerate even on normal speeds, he would never attempt such. Those are meant for steady low rpm use.

With that kind of money, they could have tried at making the original engine to suit motorcycle usage with better response characteristics even if with 60 kmpl figure. Even RE (avl) engine (as such or bottom half )could have been used for such small capacity diesel conversion. Bajaj, lambretta 2 stoke rick's run on 30% diesel mix, so no worries about blow up.

Wish their creation is much more than what the report says.

OT: There was a feature on national innovation council (?) site about similar diesel built by a villager, and fitted to a Rajdoot.
