  • Suzuki V-Strom Replacement Coming?

Suzuki has sent out to the European press a teaser invitation to an unnamed launch event, which many are speculating to be Suzuki DL650 V-Strom. Simply stating that is was going to release a new middleweight model by the end of June, best guesses suggest that the new motorcycle will be an updated version of the V-Strom line, that sees a new look, chassis, brakes, and motor.
Unchanged since 2004, the 650cc v-twin is expected to borrow heavily from the Gladius platform, which may reduce costs at the risk of angering the V-Strom loyal. Seen in the invitation are panniers and an updated fairing and headlight style (thus ruling out the SV650 as some rumors had suggested). Expect more details to come forth in the coming days, and for the bike to be launched later this month.

The rumors have been there for awhile, and now Suzuki is teasing the introduction of a middleweight adventure bike on its U.S. motorcycle site. The silhouette of the new motorcycle appears on the Suzuki motorcycle home page (screenshot above). I don’t know about you, but the silhouette looks a lot like the current V-Strom models to us. Nevertheless, the decade-old V-Stroms (displacing 1000cc and 650cc) are in need of an update, and rumors indicate the bike should be entirely new in terms of chassis, although featuring some version of either the 650cc or the 1000cc v-twin from the current models. We expect a formal announcement from Suzuki soon.

Unfortunately poor India is not an ideal market for SBKs.

            ^^you're right.
Most of the people don't think about what kind of investment and efforts need to be done in order to bring this kind of stuff in the country.

Suzuki leaks new 650 V-Strom by mistake

Suzuki has accidentally leaked full details of the new DL650 V-Strom revealing at last what the finished bike will look like with full technical details.
The details show a bike that has been given a fairly hefty makeover in terms of cosmetics but remains pretty close to the current bike in terms of the underlying mechanicals.
So far Suzuki has been teasing us with a rather annoying campaign of sketches, line drawings and most recently blurred images of the new machine. This latest leak appears to have been done by mistake.
The images show a restyled front fairing, side strakes with a hint of the old Suzuki RF900, cast wheels but much of the rest of the bike appears very familiar.
The suspension and brakes appear unchanged and even the rear of the bike looks largely the same as the outgoing model. The front gets a new look with differently styled front lights and top fairing.
The new bike takes the engine from the SFV650 Gladius but apparently retunes it for more mid and low range torque to suit the middleweight adventure bike market. The fuel tank is now 20 rather than 22 litres as the engine is claimed to be more fuel efficient.
The new V-Strom will aim to snatch sales from new threats like the BMW F650GS, Triumph Tiger 800, Kawasaki Versys and Honda Transalp.
The current V-Strom 650 has been around almost unchanged since it was first launched in 2004 with only minor tweaks and the option of ABS in 2006. The V-Strom Touring appeared as a separate model in 2007 with panniers and a top-box.
