  • First sketches of Husqvarna 900cc street bike

Husqvarna has released sketches of what is to be the dirtbike manufacturers' first ever street machine. The naked streetfighter will use the recently announced 900cc parallel twin-cylinder engine developed by Husqvarna in conjunction with its owner BMW ... and if you like your streetfighter with strong lines and sharp angles, it looks like you're in for a treat.

The new design has a definite supermoto flavor and the minimalist lines, small tank, streamlined tail and familiar red, back and white colors provide a clear visual link with the company's enduro and supermoto range.
The new 900 parallel twin is rumored to produce around 95 bhp and 70 ft-lb torque with a claimed power delivery that's both linear and smooth at low rpm, but robust at high rpm.

Here's Husqvarna's take on the new design:
With this new model, Husqvarna is consolidating its philosophy of style: a balanced combination of visual emotion and riding experience. The strong shapes of the body are a consistent evolution of the new style and design direction introduced by the Varese based company, and are testimony of the manufacturer's ability to innovate.
The architecture of the vehicle is brand new, above and beyond any layout available on the market. The characteristic shape of the side panels, the tension in the vibrant surfaces, the sculpted volumes define an athletic body. Dynamism, agility and lightness are balanced harmoniously. The functional air intakes integrated into the front of the body and the thin tail highlight the unique design of this new model. The technical components which are completely in view are the premise of sportiness, performance and, above all, fun.
So not much in the way of detail as yet, but the new streetbike is expected to surface at EICMA in Milan this November along with some other variations on the 900cc platform.
There's no confirmation on when the streetbike will reach production or how close to these sketches the final result will be.

Would this design lure you away from naked-bike offerings from the likes of KTM and Ducati?

          Husqvarna 900 Streetbike pics.

As is now the norm, pictures of the new twin cylinder 900cc streetbike from Husqvarna have been "leaked." Released in the form of a spy pic, the pre-production Husky is seen here outside what appears to a BMW facility of some kind.

Expect more, and better, pics, as a release date draws closer.

          Pics:

Spy photographs of the new Husqvarna 900 grabbed outside a BMW testing facility in Munich, Germany show the new Husqvarna 900cc parallel-twin undergoing endurance testing on the road.
Italian firm Husqvarna is wholly owned by BMW and the pure road bike is a first for the off-road biased firm which is using a bored-out version of the F800 engine developed by BMW. Insiders have told MCN the bigger bore engine will produce around 100bhp and the weight is being kept as low as possible.
This is the first time the bike has been seen in reality; up until now Husqvarna has been drip feeding information about the bike. Firstly showing shots of the engine, then some sketches and artist impressions. Now a spy photographer has spotted a real bike testing on the road in Germany.

Yes that's true. But have a look at the pic, forgetting the fact that it is German. Would you like it?

It has some kind of naked design with wires hanging here and there, and such an average silencer design. Even the indicators are not clear type lens. The silencer pipes are multicolored and look dirty. Those "fangs" around the fuel tank don't appeal too.
It looks to be some sort of copy of Duke 690, but again failing at that.

I hope its just a prototype, and the final would look much better than this.

Samarth... You are right here (in bold)... and the picture does not represent the finished product.

No company would ever launch a product in such a shabby shape. These are just spy pics... just take them as an indicator of things to come.

^ Yes, I hope so. I have one more update on the matter... Some more info is clear now:

Spy shots of the new Husqvarna 900 were revealed earlier this week in MCN but now the Italian firm has released a video where a designer explains what the new bike is all about. The video explains how the challenge of a firm only known for off-road bikes is tackling the issue of making a road bike.

Italian firm Husqvarna is wholly owned by BMW and the pure road bike is a first for the off-road biased firm which is using a bored-out version of the F800 engine developed by BMW. Video showing the new Husqvarna 900 on test near BMW's factory in Germany.

Real spy or clever marketing? Does it matter?

THISwww.husqvarna900.com) are just making us cynical.

Not that it matters. The video clearly reveals the bike's F800GS-derived engine, plus the fact it shares the BMW's frame and swingarm. New upside-down forks ending with radial caliper brakes adorn the front and the styling is unusual and distinctive (we'll be polite until we've seen the finished article). It looks like the bike's builders have taken the idea of 'camouflage' quite literally with a mottled grey scheme that's reminiscent of Panzer tanks...

First picture: New Husqvarna Nuda 900R.

This is the world first picture of the new Husqvarna Nuda 900R, taken at the official unveiling in Germany minutes ago. And yes, it’s called the Nuda.
It’s powered by a heavily worked-on version of BMW’s 800cc parallel twin motor that is apparently good for ‘over 100bhp’ and 73lbft (100Nm) of torque.
Dry weight is claimed to be a featherweight 175kg.
There has been no explanation of the name so far, apart from the nude/naked link. The first Nuda was a Suzuki concept bike powered by a GSX-R750 engine with 2 wheel drive. It appeared in 1986 but it wasn’t a naked, and we can’t remember why it was called Nuda.

HUSQVARNAhas released a video of its new Nuda 900 in action – although sadly the dubious music means we can't hear whether the bike is BMW-quiet or if the reworked 900cc engine has a more vocal character.

Information-wise, the video doesn't add much to what we already know, except to confirm that, yes, a sub-175kg bike that claims in excess of 100bhp will wheelie.

Spec-wise, as well as those figures, the Husqvarna mini-site that's been drip-feeding information about the bike confirms that it's got more than 100Nm of torque (73lbft), an Ohlins rear shock, Brembo brakes and 48mm Sachs USD forks.
