The reports also stated that HMSI is in the process of increasing its manufacturing capacity to 4 million two-wheelers a year with a new plant in Karnataka, up from 2.8 million production capacity across two manufacturing bases in the country. The reports quoted Makato Yoshii, Operating Head, South and West, HMSI as saying that the company already has over 2,000 bookings of its newly launched CBR250R. Of the 2.1 million sales during the year, the domestic market is likely to account for 1.9 million. Two new models will be launched into cater to the big 100cc bike market and growing demand for scooter segment.
