Actually, we are keeping an eye on it, but tastes have changed. With the new generation, better city infrastructure, etc. people are more interested in sportsbikes or naked bikes.Originally posted by payeng View PostNow this is a (surprising) cold response.. if bike enthusiasts are not gung ho about the creation of a new category (on-off road) bike in India.. then I wonder who would be?
Plus, this seems like a low capacity engine too, probably 150cc or so and ground clearance is also average, at the best. The target group for this bike seems to be the rural folk and not the off road enthusiast...
Let me take an example: TVS Max 4R was also in a new category, but what does it hold for the common biker? Let's hope this dirt bike succeeds though.
EDIT: Let's hope it would be CRF 230 through which Karizma was developed...Last edited by Samarth 619; 08-01-2011, 04:48 PM.---

Imported in completely knocked down, or CKD, form from Honda Motor, the dirt bike will be assembled in Hero Honda’s Gurgaon factory. A second person with knowledge of the launch said it would be priced between Rs. 1.1 lakh and Rs. 1.3 lakh.
- CRF230F
- CRF150
Looks like a heavily indianised machine though!
Rear footpegs
mirrors
Digital console
Turn lights and the tail thingy!Last edited by satyenpoojary; 08-01-2011, 04:47 PM.Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

Even the CRF230L (donor bike for the Karizma engine) has those featuresOriginally posted by satyenpoojary View PostImported in completely knocked down, or CKD, form from Honda Motor, the dirt bike will be assembled in Hero Honda’s Gurgaon factory. Exactly.. the bike in the autocar photos is a "Dual Purpose / On-Off road" bike.. which means that it can be ridden on good (City) and bad (Off Road) roads.Originally posted by princesirohi View Posta road going dirt bike..........
Motocross (pure off road models) bikes are not road legal and cannot be registered. There is a separate category of motorcycles called as "Dual Purpose / On Off Road" motorcycles which are road legal and with tyres good enough for both tarmac and moderate off road rides.
Actually with a "Shining India" there should be evolving bikers who would now like to get out of the well laid out city roads.. and have some fun out on terrains like the LEH route. A "Dual Purpose / On-Off" bike is actually perfect for such adventures.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostActually, we are keeping an eye on it, but tastes have changed. By the way, "motocross" and "dual purpose" bikes sell more in richer / developed countries where motorcycling is considered primarily as a fun / recreational activity and less for commuting in the city. And these bikes don't exactly come cheap. The CRF230L costs some $4,000 Plus in the U.S.

the engine might be based on the Unicorn/CBZ Xtreme/Hunk platform. It also gets PGM-Fi though..
