    Suzuki Motorcycle India:

    NEW DELHI: Two-wheeler maker Suzuki Motorcycle India today reported 39.12 per cent jump in sales in August to 26,897 units.

    The company had sold 19,334 units in the same month last year, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) said in a statement.

    "We have received very good response from the market to all our products. The growing customer satisfaction among present owners of Suzuki products has led to a positive word-of-mouth in the market," SMIPL Vice-President (Sales and Marketing) Atul Gupta said in a statement.

    Mahindra 2 Wheelers:

    Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd (MTWL), a part of the US $ 12.5 billion Mahindra Group, further consolidated its presence in the two wheeler segment in August 2011. The company’s scooter sales for the month of August 2011 stood at 15,120 units. Total cumulative sales from April to August 2011 stood at 60,348 units, a growth of 11 percent over the same period last year when the sales stood at 54,388 units.
    “We continue to sustain our growth momentum for our scooter brands in many key markets across the country,” says Anoop Mathur, President – Two Wheeler Sector and Member of the Group Executive Board. The cumulative sales for the company have crossed a landmark figure of two and a half lakh units, with both the Rodeo and Duro scooter brands having a franchise of more than one lakh consumers across the country.

    Mahindra 2 Wheelers’ Power Scooters cater to a range of consumer segments. The company says that Mahindra Rodeo with its very innovative, contemporary features is popular amongst the Indian youth, while the Mahindra Duro is positioned as a family scooter. The Flyte is the Indian woman’s two-wheeler of choice.

    Hero MotoCorp:

    The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp today reported 18.61% jump in its August sales at 5,03,654 units.

    The company had sold 4,24,617 units in the corresponding month last year.

    "The cumulative sales of Hero MotoCorp between April to August this year has now crossed the 25 lakh units milestone -- a growth of 21% over 2,086,342 units sold in the same period last year," the company said in a statement.

    This has set the company well on course to meet the initial guidance of 60 lakh volume sales in this fiscal, the statement said.

    "August has been a memorable and exciting month for us. We created a new name, identity and positioning, and have begun to build the company's new brand architecture... We are thrilled with the response to our new brand identity and campaign," Hero MotoCorp Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) Anil Dua said.

    The August sales performance has set the pace for the festive season ahead and the company expects to ride on its present buoyancy, he added.

    TVS Motors:

    TVS Motor Co, the third-largest two-wheeler maker in the country, has reported a 14% rise in total sales August, to 194,898 vehicles from 170,735 vehicles a year ago.

    Total two-wheeler sales grew by 14% to 190,184 vehicles, while exports were up 48% to 29,984 vehicles in August, the company said in a statement. More details are awaited.

    Bajaj Auto:

    Vehicle manufacturer Bajaj Auto reported its highest ever monthly sales at 382,379 units for August, 2011. A growth of 16% from 329,364 units a year ago.

    The motorcycles segment clocked an increase of 17% at 338,054 units from 289,176 units in the corresponding period a year ago. The Pulsar and Discover brands contributed 65% of motorcycle sales in August. Incidentally, this is the highest ever motorcycle sales numbers reported.

    The company said commercial vehicle sales rose to 44,685 units last month, an 11% jump from 40,188 units in August, 2010. Exports grew by 40% during August this year to 138,225 units from 98,578 units in the same month last year, it also disclosed.

            Two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today reported 21.41 per cent growth in its total sales to 1,60,666 units in August 2011.

            The company's total sales stood at 1,32,337 units in the corresponding month of the previous year, HMSI said in a statement. Motorcycle sales jumped 8.64 per cent to 61,562 units in August this year against 56,666 units in August 2010, it added.

            The company reported an increase of 30.97 per cent in scooter sales to 99,104 units last month compared to 75,671 units in the year-ago period.

            Just look at the scooter sales..!! Wow. But, Motorcycles Sales: 1,60,888 - 99,104 = 61,784

            The CB Unicorn Dazzler, CB Twister or CBR250R haven't really raked in the numbers in a big way.
